Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1036

Josefina saw Oliver wrestling with his thoughts and approached him, her smile full of warmth. "Hey, it's alright," she said softly. "You’ve changed and showered. Uncle Zeke brought you fresh clothes, and he's long past the age of having more kids. I also had a chat with Annika before we left, and she’s got everything under control. So just take it easy."

She reached out, gently taking his hand and leading him inside.

"I’ve taken my meds too, so seriously, don’t worry. The baby scent on the clothes is barely there, and I can hardly smell it. Oliver, none of this is your fault."

Oliver sank into a chair, still looking troubled. "Josie, maybe we should stay apart for a bit. If they managed to get to us once, they might try again. You’re a doctor, you know the risks. I can't bear the thought of you getting hurt because of me."

"Oliver, you're worrying too much. You've already encountered the scent today, and they're not likely to use the same trick again."

Just then, Josefina’s phone buzzed.

She picked up, hearing Luke’s voice on the other end. "Boss, we’ve got news. Sending you the address now."

Josefina hung up, glancing at the address with a sly grin. "We know this spot all too well. Oliver, let's go and settle some scores."

Her grin was playful, her confidence unshakeable as if she already knew they had the upper hand.

...

A woman dressed in black stepped into the rundown factory. The two burly men inside immediately lowered their heads, as if they were schoolboys caught in trouble.

"Leah, you’re back," one of them piped up.

The other chimed in eagerly, "Leah, we did everything you asked. Even got you that roast duck you love."

But Leah wasn’t in the mood for thanks. She slapped the first man sharply. "All you think about is food!"

The man winced, confused by her anger. "Leah, I thought you wanted the duck. Was that wrong?"

"I told you to come straight back after the job, so no one would remember you. But no, you had to stop for duck."

Fuming, Leah kicked him to the ground, her authority undeniable.

The other man stood frozen, hoping silence would keep him safe.
