Josefina stood up, her face a mix of worry and curiosity.
"Logan," she called out as she started walking toward him. Without a moment's hesitation, Logan spun around and took off like he was being chased by a pack of wild dogs.
Josefina turned to Cole with an apologetic smile. "Sorry, Cole. I have no idea what's gotten into Logan. Let me go check on him."
Her concern for Logan gnawed away at her. Not wanting to be left behind, Makiko got up and followed Josefina.
"Did I scare him?" Makiko asked softly, uncertainty in her voice.
Cole joined in, trailing closely behind Makiko.
"Makiko, why don't you wait here for a minute," Josefina suggested, quickening her pace to put some distance between them.
Just then, Logan reappeared, gripping a bucket, his eyes as cold as a winter's night. He marched past Josefina, muttering something under his breath, and then hurried forward.
Before anyone could react, Logan hurled the bucket's contents—foul, stinking slop—right onto Makiko and Cole.
The stench was overpowering, leaving Makiko and Cole stunned and frozen in place. Josefina and Linden were equally speechless. What just happened? Did Logan really just soak them? Why on earth would he do that?
Josefina opened her mouth, but words failed her as she faced Makiko.
"Logan, what on earth—" she began.
But then Logan suddenly crumpled to the ground, unconscious.
Josefina was at a loss for words. The scene was pure chaos.
"Missus, we need to get Logan to the hospital," Linden urged, his voice urgent.
"Yes, the hospital," Josefina agreed.
Harry and Asher quickly lifted Logan, and Josefina followed closely behind, the group swiftly disappearing from Makiko's view.
Makiko stood there, too furious to speak. Cole felt the same, the foul odor clinging to him making his stomach churn. He gagged, but no sound came out, leaving Makiko even more frustrated. She felt like she could strangle someone!
Linden awkwardly tried to explain, "Logan, well, he's a bit... off. Once he wakes up, I'm sure the missus will have him apologize to you."
