Two people stepped out of the Harrison residence and settled into their car. Cole took the wheel, and after they'd driven for a bit, he finally broke the silence. Makiko had a small, dark bug in her hand.
"The bug followed us, but we lost the trail," Makiko said, clearly frustrated. They were so close to uncovering something, and now their lead was gone.
"If we can't find anything now, we'll give it another shot later. I've got someone checking out all the local residents. We'll focus on a few families and are bound to find a clue," Cole reassured her.
Makiko nodded slightly and carefully put the bug away.
"It's a shame Mason slipped away," Cole said, slamming his hand on the steering wheel in frustration.
Makiko gently took his hand, trying to calm him down. "Cole, don’t be mad. It's on me. Please, don’t be too hard on yourself."
Cole stayed silent. Makiko kept speaking softly, trying to lift his spirits with comforting words.
"How about we check in on Wilder? He's got a tough job ahead, sorting out that mess," she suggested.
Cole nodded, "Yeah, let's go see him."
With that, they changed course and headed toward Wilder's place.

Meanwhile, back at the Harrison residence, Josefina went to check on Mason, who was recuperating in the eastern part of the house.
"Makiko and Cole stopped by. Their sudden visit likely has something to do with you," Josefina told him.
Mason was startled and tried to sit up. "You should stay lying down," Josefina advised.
Reluctantly, Mason lay back, feeling anxious.
"Do you know Makiko and Cole?" Josefina asked.
"I've never heard of them," Mason replied.
Josefina pulled out her phone, showing him photos of Makiko and Cole. "Seen them before?"
"No, I haven't."
Josefina decided to let it go, considering Mason might genuinely not know them. Maybe Makiko and Cole were careful enough to hide their true identities.
"Take care and remember what you promised earlier," Josefina reminded as she stood up.
Meanwhile, the school had just started a medical club and was looking for students interested in medicine. This news spread like wildfire on and off-campus.
Mandy was completely unfazed. She had connections, and with her solid skills, getting into the medical club was practically a given.
Strolling leisurely with a milkshake in hand, Mandy walked along the school path. Suddenly, a girl walking toward her stumbled and fell against Mandy.
Mandy: !!
Don’t come near me!
Mandy backed away, causing the girl to fall to the ground.
Students passing by all stopped in their tracks. It was lunchtime, so the campus was packed.
"Someone's fainted!"
"Is this an attack?!"
"I doubt it was an attack. Look at that girl's face; she's scared out of her mind."
