Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1078

Mandy took a deep breath, trying to stay calm as she crouched beside the girl to start CPR. She only had textbook knowledge, zero real-world experience. What was she supposed to do now?

With tears threatening to spill, Mandy recalled a tip Josefina had once shared. So, she began singing in her head: "The rolling hills are my love, flowers blooming at Green Valley's feet, what rhythm swings the best..."

As the tune played in her mind, her hands found their rhythm. Every now and then, she'd murmur a line from the song, and the people around her caught on quickly. Before she knew it, everyone was singing along!

The girl on the ground stirred awake. Mandy wiped the sweat from her forehead and pulled a nitroglycerin tablet from her bag, gently administering it. "Hey, you. We've got no beef, so why'd you crash into me? There's plenty of road, yet you picked me. If you hadn't woken up, I'd be in hot water!"

This road didn’t even have a camera for proof!

Mandy was frazzled. The girl, her voice hoarse, whispered: "Thank you."

Mandy: "..."

Thank me? Yeah, right!

She was too overwhelmed to say more. Just then, Josefina showed up at the school. Spotting the crowd, she pushed through just in time to hear Mandy's voice.

"Is the ambulance here yet? Get her to the hospital pronto."

Josefina was taken aback. She made her way through the throng and found Mandy, drenched in sweat.

"Mandy."

Hearing Josefina's voice was like a soothing balm for Mandy. She grabbed Josefina's arm, feeling a bit wronged: "Josie, I'm so relieved you're here. With you around, I can breathe easier."

"What happened?" Josefina asked.

Mandy filled her in on the incident.

Josefina knelt to check the girl's pulse. "You gave her the meds just in time; she'll be okay. But she should still get checked at the hospital to be sure."

"Exactly what I was thinking, Josie." Mandy nodded, relieved she wouldn’t have to carry any guilt.
