Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1091

Josefina was intrigued and settled in, eager to hear more. Mason leaned in, sharing, "I recall this woman with a sleeve tattoo, intricate designs covering her arm." Josefina raised an eyebrow, "If that's true, then it must be a bluff. Would she really show off her tattoo if she met you? I seriously doubt it." Mason looked a bit sheepish. "That's what I thought too, which is why I hesitated to mention it before now."

Mason felt that after all the help Josefina had given him, he couldn't ignore even the slightest clue. "Alright, I'll chase down this tattoo lead. Maybe it’ll point us in the right direction." Josefina shared the scoop with Luke, knowing only investigation would reveal the truth.

...

Arriving at the University of Melbourne, Josefina noticed people whispering and sneaking glances her way. Josefina was baffled. What was going on? She wasn't some kind of sideshow! She tried to ask someone, but they quickly scurried off, as if she were contagious. Confused, Josefina decided to call Mandy. But before she could dial, she spotted Mandy rushing over, looking flustered and sporting dark circles that suggested she hadn't slept in days.

"Josie, finally! I've been trying to reach you. Something's happened." "I was just about to ask you. I walked onto campus and everyone was staring at me like I’d committed some terrible crime." "Check your phone, look at the school forum." At Mandy’s nudge, Josefina quickly opened the app on her phone. The top post on the forum had a huge "Breaking" tag beside it.

She clicked it open and was greeted by a scandalous headline. "Shocking! University of Melbourne's Beauty Queen Seen with Principal in the Morning, Handsome Hunk in the Afternoon. Rumor Has It She Has a Gambling Dad, Paralyzed Mom, and a Crazy Brother..." Josefina's jaw dropped. This was pure fiction! They sure knew how to spin a yarn!

She scrolled through the comments, her disbelief growing. "I saw her leaving Mr. Marquez's office too! They seemed very chummy." "No wonder she could start that medical society. Without some higher-up's help, I wouldn't believe it!" "A small medical club, and they act like it's harder to join than the FBI. Who does she think she is?" "Winning a couple of competitions isn't that impressive. Who knows if they rigged it for her?" "Now that you mention it, she probably had insider info on those competitions. Having friends in high places makes things easier." "I should start my own medical society. I'm sure I could run it just as well!" "Yeah, right. Do you have Josefina's looks?"

Josefina read some of the comments, her frustration mounting. Mandy was fuming. "These people are just making stuff up! I saw those photos too. Where's the flirting? You were dressed like you were going to a church service, and Mr. Marquez? Please, his hair's so shiny it looks like it’s been licked by a dog. It's obviously professional."

Josefina burst out laughing. "Josie, stop laughing. We need to fix this." "I'm laughing because your description was spot-on. His hair really does look like that. Hahaha!" Mandy rolled her eyes. If this were happening to her, she'd be too upset to laugh. For Josefina to still find humor in such a big mess, she must have nerves of steel. "This whole thing isn’t worth getting upset over. If I get angry, that just means they win."
