As Joelle bounced across the quad, clearly eager to stir up some fresh gossip, the students passing by couldn't help but slow down, eager to catch every bit of the unfolding drama. It was like everyone wanted a front-row seat.
Noticing the growing crowd, Joelle seized the opportunity to raise her voice, aiming to tear away Josefina's mask of pretense. "Why are you the only one from all the med students who gets to start a medical club? And with the principal's personal nod, no less! There are plenty of us who could do the job just as well!"
Josefina, keeping her cool with an innocent look, replied, "Yeah, Joelle, why didn’t they pick you instead?"
Mandy jumped in, "Oh, come on! Isn't it obvious? Joelle just doesn’t have what it takes. Her grades aren’t exactly top-notch, are they? Joelle, how do you even have the nerve to kick up a fuss like this?"
Josefina added, "For those curious, you’ll get your answers on the school forum in about thirty minutes."
Her announcement had the crowd buzzing, eager to see what Josefina would spill online. Mandy was caught off guard, not realizing Josefina had a plan all along. But Josefina’s confident demeanor put her at ease.
Joelle, skeptical as ever, shot back, "You’re not planning to sneak away, are you?"
Josefina replied sharply, "If you keep quiet, no one will mistake you for a fool."
Mandy put her hands on her hips, clearly frazzled from lack of sleep, and shouted in frustration, "Josie never lies! Who could stand having such a load of rubbish thrown at them? Joelle, you’re really something, having no sense of shame!"
Joelle felt the sting of Mandy’s words, her pride taking a hit.
Josefina followed up, her gaze icy and intimidating, "I'm still a student here, and I won’t let anyone who stirs up trouble get away with it!"
Lydia felt a chill run down her spine and quickly lowered her eyes, worried her secrets might be exposed.
Despite her fear, Joelle tried to maintain her composure, "Let’s see what you’ve got, Josefina. The truth can’t be faked, and lies will never become the truth."
Josefina chuckled softly, "You’re absolutely right, Joelle. Lies won’t become the truth."
