Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1141

Josefina lay in the hospital bed, watching Hattie fuss over the sheets with a mother's touch. "Josie," Hattie said warmly, "I'm staying with you tonight, no arguments."

"Mom," Josefina replied with a gentle smile, "you should head home and catch some sleep. Seriously, I'm fine, and you won't get any proper rest here."

Hattie paused, smoothing the sheets with a determined look. "Josie, let me stay. I missed so many years of being able to take care of you. Now that I have the chance, I want to be here."

Josefina understood her mom's need to make up for lost time. She appreciated the sentiment but didn't want her mom to wear herself out.

Just as Josefina was about to insist, Oliver walked in, holding a bag of takeout. The mouthwatering aroma of burgers and fries filled the room.

"Mom," Oliver said warmly, "why don't you head home? I'll keep Josie company tonight. If you're here, she might worry and not relax."

Oliver hit the nail on the head, and Hattie, after thinking it over and looking at Josefina, agreed. She knew the importance of giving the newlyweds their space.

"Plus," Oliver added with a grin, "nothing beats your home cooking. How about bringing Josie some of your famous chicken pot pie tomorrow?"

Hattie's face lit up. "Great idea! I'll head out now, and don't worry about breakfast tomorrow. I'll bring something yummy for you both." With that, Hattie left, a spring in her step as if she'd found a renewed purpose.

As the door closed, a peaceful silence enveloped the room. Oliver shrugged off his jacket and headed for a quick shower.

Josefina, wrapped in her comforting pink sheets from home, picked up her phone to message Livia.
