"Ugh, that housewarming party Cole threw really stirred things up. I’m gonna have a word with him when I get back. On my way here, Cole called, wanting to know where Josie was. He’s eager to apologize to her in person."
Josefina lay quietly on the hospital bed, recalling Oliver's instructions. She chose to keep her silence.
Noticing the Harrison family wasn’t in the mood to talk, Brandon awkwardly excused himself and left.
After Brandon left, Josefina finally broke her silence.
"This wasn’t Grandpa Brandon's fault. He didn’t want any of this to happen. Grandpa, Grandma, Mom, Dad, really, I’m okay."
Hattie sat at the bedside, her heart aching for her daughter. "Josie, sweetheart, you had such a scare. Please, listen to your mom and stay here for observation, alright?"
Garrett added, "Your health is what matters most, Josie. You should do as your mom says."
Seeing the concern etched on her family’s faces, Josefina decided to stay in the hospital.
...
Brandon arrived at Cole's house.
The family was all gathered in the living room, visibly tense when they heard Brandon was there.
"Dad, you’re here. How’s Josie doing? Did she make it to the hospital? Which one is she at? Please let me know, so I can visit her," Cole said with genuine concern.
Brandon’s face was stern. "It’s better if you don’t go upsetting Josie further. She’s still shaken and in the hospital. You know she’s the apple of the Harrison family’s eye, cherished by everyone. Yet, you insisted on heading to the stables for your party."
Cole felt the weight of the reprimand.
Once again, it was all on him.
Cole didn’t dare argue; whatever Brandon said, he had to accept.
No matter how tough, he had to take it and swallow it.
