Was Alex supposed to take a break from work? Was she not going to be around the office anymore?

Deanna was caught off guard, struggling to grasp the situation. "I'm sure Ms. Josefina is just looking out for you. Maybe she noticed you seemed a bit off and wants you to recharge. Once you're feeling better, you can jump back into work. Alex, she genuinely cares about you, so try not to overthink it."

Alex sank back into his chair, looking worn out. "Deanna, I can't help but feel like Ms. Josefina might want someone else in my spot. Maybe she doesn't want me sticking around."

Deanna held Alex's hand, offering reassurance. "Don't go there. You're a key player here. Ms. Josefina wouldn't just push you out like that."

She repeated her comforting words until she was sure Alex felt some relief.

"I’ve decided to take a couple of days off," Alex finally confessed. "I talked it over with Ms. Josefina, and I'm planning to see a doctor, possibly get some sleeping pills, and just catch up on some rest. My mental health isn't great, and it's starting to affect my work."

Deanna nodded gently, understanding the situation. "That's a good call. Nothing's more important than your health."

Alex acknowledged, "I've put your name forward to handle things while I'm away, Deanna. I trust you've got this."

Deanna was taken aback. "You want me to step up and take over your responsibilities?"

She was surprised Alex had recommended her for such an important role.

Alex chuckled, "Everyone knows how capable you are. I trust you. I'm sure Ms. Josefina will be on board, given your impressive designs and skills. While I'm away, I'll need you to take charge."

Deanna's face lit up with a genuine smile. "Alex, I'll put in my best effort and won't let you down."

"Go for it. I have no doubt you'll do great," Alex responded with a smile.
