Josefina’s voice was tight with worry. “Bennett, what happened?”

“Mr. Brandon fainted. I tried to get him to go to the hospital, but he refused. He’s convinced that if he leaves home, someone will use the chance to hurt him.”

“I already gave him the medicine you left, Ms. Josefina. Could you come over now?”

“I’m on my way,” Josefina said, already moving.

She left with Oliver, but before they made it far, Logan called out, “Master, can I come too?”

Josefina and Oliver exchanged surprised glances. Logan always resisted leaving her side—what changed?

She asked, “Logan, I thought you didn’t want to come with us?”

Logan met her gaze, earnest. “I want to go with you this time. You’ve always looked out for me. Now that I can help, I want to be there for you too.”
