Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1248

If people found out Josefina was pregnant with twins, there’d be no end of trouble—someone out there would definitely want to make her life hard.

“Don’t worry. I promise, your secret’s safe with me,” Emily said, reassuring everyone. “Josie’s pregnant, so of course she’s not feeling her best. She needs her family around. If things get tough, just have Josie and Oliver stay at our place for a while. Drake, sis, I’m counting on you two to take good care of her.”

Emily smiled warmly. “Oh, come on. Josie’s my granddaughter. Taking care of her is the least we can do. We’re family—no need to be so polite.”

Brandon, meanwhile, was practically bouncing with excitement. He was already itching to go shopping for baby stuff.

Over at the café, Oliver dropped Josefina off. She ordered a fruit juice, skipping the coffee this time. Sylvie was already waiting at a table inside. Oliver didn’t come in—he just waited for her by the door.

Josefina took a seat, and Sylvie immediately handed her a small, gift-wrapped box.

“I can’t just take this,” Josefina said, trying to hand it back.

“Please, just accept it! You’ve done so much for my family—you’re basically our hero. Honestly, if I gave you a whole house, it still wouldn’t be enough to show how grateful we are.”

Josefina laughed, shaking her head. “Don’t make me sound so amazing. I just did what anyone would do.”

Sylvie slid the gift box closer, insisting, “Come on, take it. If you don’t, I’ll feel too awkward to ever ask for your help again.”

With no other choice, Josefina took the gift.

Then Sylvie leaned in, dropping her voice. “Something’s really off with my grandma lately. She’s been locking herself in her room and barely eating. Josie, I’m worried someone put some kind of curse on her or something.”

Josefina blinked. “Wait, what?”

“I know it sounds crazy, but she’s just not herself. She’s never acted like this before. Josie, would you mind coming with me to check on her?” Sylvie asked, looking anxious and a little desperate.

She knew she was asking a lot, but she had to try—for her grandma’s sake.

“When did Kania start acting so weird?” Josefina asked.

“About three days ago. It’s been super strange. Everyone’s worried, but she just keeps the door shut, won’t answer our calls, and ignores our messages.”
