Josefina caught on right away, but she didn’t look the least bit surprised.
“Have the PR team try to cool things off online. I still need to cooperate with the police, and Dr. Zheng hasn’t given me any answers yet. For now, we don’t know why the models fainted.”
“Ms. Josefina, I’ve already had them start, but the trending topics aren’t easy to suppress.”
“Just do what you can. If it doesn’t work, that’s fine.” She hung up.
Right now, all she could do was wait for the investigation. Everything else would have to wait.
At that moment, Percy stepped out of the surveillance room. His face was unusually grim—Josefina barely recognized him.
She knew instantly that things were bad.
“Josie, let’s talk somewhere private,” Percy said in a low voice.
She nodded and followed him to a quiet corner.
Percy spoke, his voice tense and worried. “Josie, the wedding gown fabric is toxic. The material was soaked in poison for a whole week. Even though today the effect should’ve been weakest, just touching the fabric was enough to cause a reaction. The models were exposed simply by wearing the dresses. It’s a good thing you didn’t handle them yourself—who knows what could’ve happened.”
He paused, then added, “Still, even if you had touched them, with your background, you probably would’ve noticed something was off.”
But there was no turning back time. Josefina couldn’t go back and destroy those dresses before the show.
“This was all aimed at me—or at least at the people around me,” Josefina said with conviction.
Only her closest circle knew about the bridal show. So whoever set this up had to be one of them.
“If we send the gowns for testing now, will they still be able to detect anything?” she pressed.
Percy shook his head.
Josefina felt a cold unease settle in.
“I already sent fabric samples to the lab. I hope it’ll help,” Percy said softly. He’d done everything he could, as quickly as possible.
