Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 1280

Josefina had barely taken a step when Oliver was already in front of her, moving so fast she almost jumped.

“I brought you a meat bun,” he said, holding out the warm, paper-wrapped snack. “Eat something, you need it.”

As soon as he unwrapped it, the savory aroma hit her. The bun was stuffed with crispy fried meat, a sausage, and some fresh greens—all those flavors mixing together made Josefina’s mouth water.

She took a big bite, and it was like life rushed back into her body.

“I’ll take you home so you can rest,” Oliver said. “Let me handle everything else.”

She was about to protest, but he cut her off. “I’m your man. If something happens, you’re not supposed to carry it all by yourself. Josie, let me take care of you for once.”

What could she say to that? She just smiled and gave in.

“Okay then, guess I’ll see what it feels like to lean on a man,” Josefina joked, grinning at him.

They started walking, side by side. Oliver slowed down so she could walk ahead, letting her set the pace.

Not far away, Percy watched them leave, his takeout bag hanging at his side. The smile faded from his face. After a long pause, he let out a quiet laugh and turned around to eat alone.

Oliver dropped Josefina off at her family’s house.

She looked at him, surprised. “Why didn’t you take me to our place?”

“If I did, your family would stay up all night worrying. This way, you can talk with them, and you’ll feel better too.”

Warmth filled Josefina’s chest. Oliver always thought of everything—he handled every detail before she even mentioned it.

Men like him were hard to find. She couldn’t help but hug him. “Thank you.”

“Silly girl, do we really need to be so polite? But if you insist on thanking me, maybe later tonight, in bed, you could…”
