Mandy chimed in, teasing, “Oh? Are you saying Josie’s too much for you to handle?”

Percy crossed his arms. “Did you just say Josie’s too strong? You wanna repeat that?”

“No, no, she’s not strong at all. Not even a little,” he sputtered. He knew better than to mess with her.

She lifted the stick and gave him another whack.

She leaned in, voice light, “So? Want to go again? You okay?”

Dominic barely managed, “I’m fine, really, I’m fine, f-fine…”

Then his eyes rolled back, and he passed out cold.

Josefina set the stick down. “Useless.”

Percy took the stick from her. “He really is. I tried your methods on him, and he cracked almost instantly—told us everything.”

“If only we could get another clone to study, our research could go even further,” Mandy said thoughtfully.

But then she added, “Still, I think we should destroy it. These kinds of experiments shouldn’t exist.”

Josefina nodded. “It’s not easy to find people like that, but I’ve already got someone looking. We’ve locked onto someone—just have to catch him.”

That someone was Dr. Berry.

He was the real mastermind. Bringing him in would be way more useful than rounding up a bunch of nobodies.

“Josie, you’re seriously amazing! No one else could handle this like you do!” Mandy flashed her a playful thumbs-up.

Josefina laughed at her cuteness.
