Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 679

Oliver was caught off guard when Jose grilled him. It wasn’t like he was some kind of expert; everything he knew came straight from Jose herself.

Like that one time he saw Jose using makeup to cover something up, and now it clicked again.

"Josie, I only know about this stuff because of you. I’m honestly out of the loop on everything else."

Jose gave Oliver the cold shoulder, her fingers flying over her phone screen as she searched for a nearby makeup store.

Today, she had on a short-sleeved top that did nothing to hide the marks on her neck.

As they hit a red light, Oliver braked and quickly texted George.

"Josie, no need to buy anything. I’ve got George picking up some stuff and bringing it to you."

Jose didn’t even glance at Oliver, too busy replying to her messages.

George stood by the roadside, clutching the makeup, his face lighting up as he spotted Oliver’s car.

When Oliver pulled up, George bent down, handing the bag over to Jose.

"Ms. Josefina, here you go."

George’s eyes couldn’t help but stray to Jose’s neck; the marks were hard to miss. He quickly averted his gaze and found himself locking eyes with Oliver’s icy stare.

"Mr. Oliver, I’ll be heading back now," George stammered, eager to make his exit.

Oliver gave a nonchalant hum, and George was gone in an instant.

"George seems pretty scared of you, huh? One look from you and he bolts," Jose noted.

"Maybe," Oliver replied with a smile.

Jose opened the bag, revealing a treasure trove of makeup products. She started covering up the marks, grabbed her breakfast, and walked off without sparing Oliver another glance.

Oliver watched her go, an indulgent smile playing on his lips, then drove off.

Back at the office, George had just arrived.

"Mr. Oliver, Rowan asked you to visit him at the hospital. I didn’t want to answer his calls, but he called from an unknown number and got through," George explained, clearly exasperated.

"You do know you own shares in the company, right? I could just say that Dominic personally tested the waters, realized it’s tough out there, and decided to come crawling back."

Dominic was speechless. Was Oliver jabbing at him on purpose?

His mood darkened further, but Oliver’s words had him beat.

Fuming, Dominic retorted, "We’ll see about that, Oliver!"

And with that, he hung up.

Oliver blocked him without a second thought and turned his attention back to the paperwork.

By noon, Oliver’s phone rang again.

It was Harry on the line, sharing the results of his investigation.

"Mr. Oliver, I’ve confirmed that Sydney did indeed undergo laser surgery, but I couldn’t find out which part of her was treated."
