"Of course, Luke's the kind of guy who gets things done fast," Josefina said with a knowing smile.
"That quick and he still hasn't caught up to Livia?"
Josefina just sighed.
"How do you know he's into Livia?"
"It's all in the eyes, my friend. His gaze totally gives it away."
Mentioning Livia made Josefina think of Finley.
Oliver was slumped on the couch, looking completely worn out.
"You should really get some rest," Josefina urged.
Instead, Oliver got up, walked over to the bed, and sprawled out on Josefina's floral quilt. No matter how tough he acted outside, at home, he couldn't resist the comfort of his wife's cozy bedspread.
Leaving some space, Oliver patted the bed. "Come on, let's crash together."
Noticing how genuinely tired he was, Josefina didn't fuss. She laid down beside him, and they drifted off to sleep, just like that.
...
Reid came back, carrying breakfast.
As they sat down to eat, Josefina asked, "Reid, it's been a while since I've seen you."
"I've been prepping for next year's competition. Our team has to redeem ourselves; we can't let Albert win every time."
Josefina just listened.
"Maybe Albert won't compete next year?" she suggested.
"That's unlikely. Albert's my arch-rival; he competes every time. Without him, what's the point?"
Reid had only one goal: to outdo Albert!
Josefina thought to herself, next year she wouldn't participate, letting Albert and his crew figure things out on their own. She wouldn't help.
"Reid, you're definitely going to win next year."
Reid, in a great mood, chuckled. "If my little sis says so, it must be true. If you say I'll win, then I definitely will."
Reid peeled a hard-boiled egg and placed it on Josefina's plate.
