The air was thick with skepticism as everyone voiced their concerns. Josefina, with her unassuming demeanor, seemed like an easy mark at first glance. But she had a fire in her eyes as she took a couple of confident steps forward, approaching the nearest trainee with a warm smile.
She grasped the trainee's arm with surprising firmness. He tried to yank it back but found himself stuck, unable to break free from her hold. Stunned, he blurted out, "You're stronger than you look!"
Josefina laughed lightly, "Strength is just one of my many talents." With a swift maneuver, she flipped him over her shoulder with ease, leaving the rest of the trainees in speechless awe.
"Wow, she's got some serious power!" one trainee managed to say, still reeling from the shock.
Dusting off her hands, Josefina challenged them, "Who's next?"
They realized they had underestimated her. It wasn't about height or looks—real strength lay elsewhere. Charging at her, the trainees found Josefina standing tall and unflinching, ready for whatever came her way.
Luke, sitting comfortably on a chair he pulled over, captured the scene on his phone, grinning from ear to ear as the trainees hit the ground one by one.
He offered Josefina a glass of water, "Take a breather, boss."
As she sat down, catching her breath, Luke's smug grin only served to irritate the trainees further. "You set us up to fail, didn't you? Just to make us look bad!" they accused.
Luke chuckled, "Think of it as a lesson learned. There's always someone better out there."
The trainees, picking themselves up, couldn't deny the truth in his words. "You guys did great," Josefina complimented, though their bruised egos wouldn't let them accept it gracefully.
"Who's the lucky guy? Can you give us a hint?" another pushed.
"Get back to training. Just remember to bring a gift when she gets married," Luke said, shutting down further questions.
Left to nurse their bruised pride, the trainees couldn't help but wonder who might be lucky enough to win over someone like Josefina.
Unaware of the buzz she left behind, Josefina was on her way to check on Livia, arms full of groceries. After a whirlwind of busy days, she knew she had to visit her friend. Josefina understood all too well the heartache Livia was going through—losing a child and dealing with a lousy partner was no small burden. She hoped Livia would find the strength to move on and not let a worthless man dim her spirit.
As she arrived at Livia's door, she noticed someone there.
