Oliver handed her a glass of water, "Josie, take a breath. It's not worth getting all riled up over a fool like him. If he's dumb enough to fall for Shay's tricks, he's asking for it."
Josefina settled into a chair and sipped half the glass. "I could really go for an ice-cold Coke," she said, glancing up at Oliver.
In a flash, Oliver fetched a Coke from the fridge, twisted off the cap, popped in a straw, and handed it to her.
After she took a sip, Oliver took the bottle from her. "Josie, I'll have a chat with Finley later, so don't stress about it."
"Talking to him is like talking to a brick wall. He's too wrapped up in his own world to care about what we think."
The thought of Livia's lost child tugged at Josefina's heart. Finley, of all people, didn't deserve to be that child's father.
Oliver said, "Take a breather. I've got a meeting, but I'll clock out early today and we can grab some BBQ. Sound good?"
Josefina nodded.
Oliver kissed her forehead, ruffled her hair, and headed off to work.
Josefina lay back in the massage chair, lost in thought, before eventually getting up and leaving.
...
Josefina made her way over to see Luke.
Luke ran a bodyguard agency, and his team was always in high demand. If you needed protection, Luke's place was the go-to.
Josefina walked in as Luke was finishing up a phone call. Once done, he poured her a glass of freshly squeezed juice.
"Boss, I heard you were coming, so I had some juice made for you. Give it a taste."
"Thanks," Josefina said, taking a sip and nodding in approval.
Luke continued, "Boss, I've done some digging. Rowan's behind this mess. Oliver had him locked up, but Brandon bailed him out right after."
