Finley sighed, "My phone's vanished, and someone used it to text Livia, making it look like I wanted to meet her. She went to the bar searching for me and nearly got into some serious trouble."
"Finley, just because your phone went missing doesn't mean it's my fault. Josefina and Livia are both pointing fingers at me. I'm stuck in this wheelchair, can't even manage on my own. I'm a victim too, you know."
Finley lowered his head, deep in thought, before saying, "Livia lost her memory while she was with me. I can't figure out who'd want to harm her."
Shay, tears in her eyes, explained, "But that doesn't prove I did anything to Livia. I have no quarrel with her; why would I want to hurt her?"
Seeing Shay so upset, Finley tried to reassure her, "Shay, I get it. I'll talk to Josefina again. If she's the one behind this, I'll make sure you get justice."
"Finley, let's just drop it. As long as I can walk again, I don't need justice. I don't want to mess up things between you and Oliver. If I can get back to living normally, I'm ready to let it go."
Shay suddenly clasped Finley's hand, tears in her eyes. "Finley, please, help me."
Finley nodded, "Don't worry, Shay, I'm here for you."
With Finley's assurance, Shay felt a bit more at ease. As long as she played her cards right, she'd have Finley on her side.
"Finley, thanks for bringing me to the hospital. It's late; you should head home and get some rest."
"Shay, let me stay and take care of you."
"No need, I've got nurses here. It's uncomfortable for you, and I don't want my issues to disrupt your rest."
Finley, touched by Shay's thoughtfulness, was moved. "Shay, I'll come back tomorrow to see you."
"Alright, Finley. Drive safe and take care."
With a smile, Finley nodded and left the hospital.
"Josie, why are you so on guard? I promise I won't bite. Just let me in for a bit. I can't sleep and just want to sit for a while, okay?"
"Not happening," Josefina replied, her refusal firm.
"Alright, I'll leave the nightgown at the door. You can get it later."
Listening for Oliver's footsteps to fade, Josefina waited. Once sure he was gone, she unlocked the door. The nightgown was draped over the doorknob, and she reached for it.
Just as she was about to retreat, Oliver's hand emerged from nowhere, catching hers. "Josie," Oliver's voice, smooth and captivating in the quiet night, filled the air.
"Oliver, where did you come from?"
Oliver held her hand, pulling her close, refusing to let go. "Josie, let's stay together tonight, alright?"
