In front of others, Grandpa Robert always kept Josefina's medical skills under wraps.
"Patrick, my granddaughter Josie's studying medicine. But she's still in college, so I can't promise she'll cure you," Grandpa Robert said, trying to keep Hunter's hopes in check. It's important not to get too hopeful, as it can lead to big letdowns.
Hunter wasn't expecting much anyway. He had already seen countless doctors, and none had been able to help him.
The garden was quiet, just the four of them there. They all settled down, and Josefina said, "Hunter, let me check your pulse and see what's going on."
Hunter reached out his hand, and Josefina began to feel for his pulse. Grandpa Robert and Emily sat nearby, staying silent to avoid distracting her.
After a bit, Josefina lifted her hand from Hunter's wrist. "Can you fix me up, young lady?" Hunter asked, not holding out much hope. It was tough to believe that Josefina, a young college student, could succeed where so many experienced doctors had failed. Yet, his tone was gentle, showing respect for Josefina's efforts.
Without answering right away, Josefina took a closer look at Hunter's legs and back. After her assessment, she confidently declared, "Hunter, I can treat your condition."
"Really? Can I actually get back on my feet?" Hunter asked, his disbelief evident.
Grandpa Robert, unable to hide his excitement, added, "Josie's got real talent in medicine. Her grandma came back to her senses because of her. Patrick, if Josie says she can help you, then I'm sure she can."
Emily chimed in, "I trust my granddaughter's skills completely."
