Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 802

Josefina advised, "Hunter, for now, let’s keep this under wraps from your family. It's crucial that my treatment stays a secret."

If word got out that Hunter had discovered the truth about his health, the people responsible might try to silence him for good.

Anger flashed in Hunter's eyes, and the deep furrows on his brow added even more lines to his weathered face. "Those ungrateful kids think they can just get rid of me? Not a chance! I've already made a will. When I pass, all my shares are going straight to charity."

Suddenly, it clicked for Josefina why Hunter had been able to hold on for so long; his will was his driving force.

Grandpa Robert spoke up, "Patrick, take it easy. With a big family and a successful business, it's inevitable that some might go astray."

Emily chimed in, "People aren’t always what they seem."

Hunter nodded, though worry still creased his brow. "I’ll get to the bottom of which one of those ungrateful kids is after me. Living half-paralyzed, without dignity, is unbearable."

He never imagined his golden years would be stripped of all respect.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, wishing he could confront the person behind it all right then.

Josefina reassured him, "Hunter, patience is key. If we alert them too soon, we'll never catch them."

Hunter nodded, reining in his frustration.

After decades in the ruthless world of business, he knew the importance of patience.

"Josie, I owe you my life," he expressed sincerely.

Josefina teased, "Aren’t you worried I might be tricking you? You trust me that easily?"

...

As Josefina left with her grandparents, they reminded Hunter to keep up appearances, to hang on to life no matter how tough things got.

Once in the car, Josefina asked, "Grandpa, Grandma, can you tell me more about Hunter’s kids? I want to help him figure this out faster."

"Your Hunter has a son named Darrick and a daughter named Autumn. Darrick has two sons and another child, a secret one, not officially recognized. Hunter doesn’t acknowledge him and forbids Darrick from talking about it. If Darrick didn’t comply, he'd be out. In the end, Darrick agreed. I’m not sure about the name of this illegitimate child, but I heard he was kicked out of Westwood."

Hearing this, Josefina immediately thought of Xavier.

"Grandpa, Grandma, could this illegitimate child be named Xavier?"
