Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 811

Shay sat in her wheelchair, practically vibrating with frustration. If she were on her feet, she might've already thrown a punch or two.

The thought of having to rely on Jarred for her leg only stoked the flames of her anger.

"Josefina, you've really crossed the line this time!"

"And how's that? So, you're allowed to talk, but I'm not?" Josefina retorted, crossing her arms and giving Shay a look that was equal parts disdain and smug superiority. "A smart person knows when to step aside."

Shay was left fuming, words caught in her throat.

Beside her, the maid stood in tense silence, too afraid to intervene.

Shay scoffed, "Josefina, I can't wait to see if you're still grinning when this all plays out."

Trying to shift the focus, Shay remembered she hadn't left her contact details yet.

"Dr. Jarred, I still need to give you my phone number."

Jarred's earlier smile had vanished, replaced by a stern expression. "No need for that. Unfortunately, we can't help with your leg."

Shay blinked in confusion.

Didn't he just say they’d keep in touch?

Why the sudden about-face?

"Dr. Jarred, didn't you just say you’d reach out to me?"

"Oh, after going over your case more thoroughly, I’m afraid we just don’t have the expertise to treat your leg," Jarred replied, clearly irritated. Knowing Shay was Josefina's enemy made dealing with her feel like a waste of time, not to mention the potential to upset Josefina.

He added, "You should find another doctor. We’re just not equipped to help."

Shay was stunned by Jarred's flip-flopping.

Why the refusal now?

He hadn’t consulted with anyone else, so what changed his mind?

Her eyes darted to Josefina. Could she have swayed Jarred’s decision?
