Oliver couldn't resist flashing a warm smile as he playfully tousled Josefina's hair. "Hey Oliver, can you drop me at the fashion company? Alex mentioned they've brought in a couple of new designers and wants me to give them a look-over," Josefina asked.
As they drove to the fashion firm, the receptionist's face lit up with excitement at Josefina's return. "Welcome back, Ms. Josefina!" she greeted enthusiastically.
Walking into the office, Josefina was met with cheerful greetings from the staff, their happiness at her return evident. Feeling generous, she decided to treat everyone to a casual afternoon tea, buffet-style – grab whatever you fancy.
Alex approached with a bright smile, "Ms. Josefina, so glad you could make it. Let me introduce you to the new designers."
Josefina replied with a hint of reassurance, "Alex, you could've handled this. I trust you completely with the design department."
Alex, a bit concerned, admitted, "Ms. Josefina, I can sketch designs, but I'm not confident in making the right calls during interviews. I worry my choices might not always be the best for the company. It's always better when the right person handles it."
...
Inside the interview room, a girl with a gentle demeanor sat nervously in her chair. "Why isn't the director interviewing us?" she asked.
Alex, trying to ease her nerves, said with a smile, "I'm the design director, but our boss is the one interviewing you. It's her decision. Don't worry, she's really kind."
The girl watched nervously as the previous candidate left, then it was her turn to enter.
As she sat down, Josefina reviewed her resume. "Bobby, you've been involved in quite a few designs," Josefina noted.
Bobby responded with a polite smile, "I owe it to my mentors for giving me these opportunities."
"What made you decide to come back after doing so well abroad?" Josefina asked.
With anger in his eyes, Xavier spat out, "It was that damn Josefina!"
Darrick pressed further, "Why would she want you dead? What’s the story between you two?"
After Xavier spilled the beans, Darrick facepalmed in frustration. "You idiot! Xavier, you're such an idiot! If you couldn't get Josefina, why target her maid? And you didn't even cover your tracks well enough to avoid getting caught!"
Darrick was furious, tempted to lash out at Xavier but held back, seeing his son’s sorry state.
Marina, teary-eyed, clutched Darrick's arm, "Darrick, you have to help Xavier. He's our son; we can't just abandon him."
Xavier pleaded desperately, "Dad, please help me. I don't want to die."
