Oliver, trying to steady his nerves, took a few calming sips of his iced water. We all know the feeling—embarrassment can quickly turn into panic, and Oliver was right there in the thick of it.
Josefina was sure of it; the person who had grabbed her was none other than Oliver.
“Josie, I swear, I had no idea it was you. If I’d known, there’s no way I’d have done it,” he said, his voice full of regret.
Josefina stayed silent, her cool demeanor even more apparent, making Oliver wish he could somehow just magically appear by her side.
But he couldn’t.
“Josie, I’m really sorry. How about you pinch me back tomorrow as payback?”
She’d never seen Oliver this flustered before. Considering they didn’t really know each other at the time, and Josefina wasn’t one to hold grudges, she couldn’t help but smile.
“I honestly didn’t recognize you in that get-up,” Josefina said with a chuckle.
“Josie, I didn’t recognize you either.”
Josefina relaxed, sinking back into the couch, a sense of calm washing over her.
“You weren’t planning on heading to the parking lot for some kind of revenge, were you?” she teased.
Oliver gave a little nod. “She made you uncomfortable, so I thought I’d return the favor.”
Josefina was surprised by his boldness.
“Let’s keep you out of this one.”
“Josie, even if I don’t get involved, Rowan and Sydney would still find a way to blame me.”
Oliver knew their style all too well.
It wouldn’t be an issue for him to step in.
Josefina was taken aback. She never thought Oliver would go out of his way for her like this.
This guy really paid attention to the little things.
“Oliver, thank you.”
“Josie, there’s no need for thanks between us.”
