Rowan suddenly had a lightbulb moment, leaving Oliver completely astounded. Josefina chimed in, “When you tried showing him evidence before, he thought you were just making things up. Back then, he and Sydney were inseparable, so he wouldn’t have listened to a word against her. But now that the rumors are out, he’s started digging around on his own, and that changes everything.”
Oliver had thought about this too, but hearing Josefina put it into words made him appreciate her insight even more. “Josie, you’re sharp as a tack,” he praised.
Josefina beamed at him through the screen. “Oliver, you really know how to butter someone up.”
“As long as I’m not barking up the wrong tree,” Oliver quipped back.
Josefina was left momentarily speechless.
“Josie, I’ve got to run. I’ll catch up with you later,” Oliver said, wrapping up the call.
Just then, Dominic stormed into the office, with George trying his best to hold him back, though not very successfully. Oliver gave George a look, and George left the room.
Dominic, seething with anger, confronted Oliver. “Why did you take my project away from me?”
“Performance dictates your fate here. You’ve been with the company for two weeks and already lost us three million. Dominic, you’re not exactly a cash cow, and since it’s not your money on the line, you’re not feeling the pinch.”
Dominic’s face fell, knowing Oliver’s words rang true.
With the cold hard facts laid bare, Dominic had no ground to stand on.
“If you want to keep working on the project, that’s fine, but invest your own money. Don’t dip into the profits I’ve made.”
Oliver leaned back in his chair, exuding an air of relaxed confidence.
Dominic felt a lump in his throat and left in a huff.
Back in his office, Dominic called Rowan to spill the beans.
Feeling buoyed by Sydney’s words, Dominic decided to press on with his research and development. He was determined to prove himself to both Oliver and Rowan!
Today was Annika’s big day—she was finally getting out of the hospital. That morning, Josefina picked up a bouquet and headed to Annika’s room to bring her home.
“Ms. Josefina, you didn’t have to come yourself. I could’ve managed on my own,” Annika said, touched by the gesture.
“Your health isn't fully back yet. I’ve asked the driver to bring the car around, and I’ll take you home,” Josefina insisted.
“Thank you, Ms. Josefina.”
Josefina wheeled Annika out of the hospital and back to the Harrison residence. Once they were in her room, Josefina encouraged her, “Annika, take it easy for now. Rest up before you even think about getting back to work.”
“Ms. Josefina, I feel up to it, really. If you don’t let me work, I’m going to go stir-crazy here.”
