Josie was lounging in Sandy's cozy living room when Sandy herself walked in carrying a tray.
"Hey, Josie, my friend just dropped off some freshly baked cookies. Give them a whirl and see if they hit the spot."
"Thanks, Aunt Sandy." Josie accepted the warm mug of tea with both hands, feeling its comforting heat.
Sandy sighed, opening up about her troubles, "Josie, I've been all over the place these past few years. My sleep’s been shallow and scarce. Without these supplements, I don't think I could've managed."
Josie offered with a reassuring smile, "Aunt Sandy, let me check your pulse and see what's going on."
Sandy eagerly extended her hand, placing it gently on a cushion. Josie’s fingers lightly pressed against Sandy’s wrist, feeling the rhythm beneath. After a moment, she pulled back.
"Aunt Sandy, I'll have some vitamins sent over to you. Just follow the instructions. And remember, keep your spirits high; do whatever makes you happy. Life’s too short not to enjoy every bit of it," Josie advised with wisdom beyond her years.
Sandy couldn’t help but admire Josie's insight. Lately, she had been trying to find joy in the little things herself—like catching a fashion show and dining out with friends. Beyond that, she hadn’t done much else.
Looking at Josie’s youthful, vibrant face, Sandy smiled. "You're spot on, Josie! Happiness is everything. I need to keep living like this, cherishing every moment."
Caiden’s gaze wandered to Josie, captivated by her bright smile, unable to look away.
Josie noticed Caiden’s eyes on her but acted like she didn’t.
"Aunt Sandy, I better get going. Someone will drop off those vitamins, just let them know at the door."
Caiden added, "Josie, give them my number, and I'll meet them for the pickup."
"Sure thing," Josie replied as she stood to leave.
"I’ll be off then. Give me a shout if you need anything else."
Josie headed out, with Caiden walking her to the door.
...
Livia had just flown back into town, trailed by an unwelcome shadow.
Stepping out of the airport, she made her way to the taxi stand.
Finley trailed a short distance behind her, keeping his eyes on her.
