Finley was at a loss for words. "Livia, you’ve got it all wrong. I didn’t mean it like that. I just didn’t want you to get hurt, so I brought you back home."
"Who said I wanted to go home with you? Dream on!" Livia shot back, stomping away like Finley was some kind of wild animal.
Finley hurried after her. "Livia, please, I just want to talk."
"Talk? About what? Do you really think that a few words are going to make me forget all the pain you caused me?"
Finley’s eyes dimmed, a hint of anxiety creeping in. "Livia, I bought you two properties. I thought you might like them."
Livia crossed her arms, glaring at Finley with defiance. "And you think two properties are enough to make me forgive what you did?"
"No, Livia, that’s not it. Even if I bought you ten properties, it wouldn’t undo my mistakes."
Livia let out a derisive laugh. "Finley, even with those properties, I’m not forgiving you. Enough talk. Just drop me off somewhere I can catch a cab."
Afraid that Livia might never give him another chance to speak, Finley held his tongue. He drove her to the nearest cab stand, handing over the property deeds as she stepped out of the car.
Livia didn’t even glance at the papers before walking off. Finley sat in the car, a knot of regret and helplessness twisting in his chest. He muttered to himself, "You reap what you sow."
He picked up his phone and made a call. "Get me more properties, all under Livia’s name."
He still wanted to make amends, to do whatever he could to make things right.

That night, Sydney took Dominic to a secluded training ground on the outskirts of town.
"Mom, why did you bring me here? I have a meeting with the R&D department I can’t miss."
"Dominic, are you absolutely sure you can outmaneuver Oliver at the company?"
