"Dad, he's your son, but aren't I your son too? You've handed all the shares to him, so where does that leave me?" Rowan was enjoying his meal when this bombshell dropped, ruining his good mood.
"Dominic, where have you been lately? Your mom and sister are missing too. I heard some wild rumors that you were plotting against Oliver?"
Dominic sat down, bottling up his frustration. "Dad, those are just baseless rumors. None of it is true."
"Then where have you three been hiding out?"
"Dad, I took Mom away for a little getaway. I was trying to talk her into staying with you and not letting gossip sway her into a divorce."
Rowan set his fork down, his deep eyes locked on his youngest son. "Are you saying I got tricked into divorcing your mom because of idle gossip?"
Dominic hesitated, "Dad, that's not what I meant."
"Then what are you getting at?"
Dominic's temper flared again, and he struggled to keep it in check. He wanted to ask Rowan what exactly he was trying to achieve. "Dad, you've given all the shares to Dorian. What about me? I'm your kid too! Even if you're set on divorcing Mom, you can't just ignore me, right?"
Rowan wiped his mouth, took a sip of wine, and replied calmly, "I haven't ignored you. Didn't I give you a tech company to manage? If you can run it well, like your brother Dorian, why would you need these shares?"
Oliver had once climbed to the CEO position with minimal shares from the Baldwin family, proving himself with results and competence.
"Dominic, you and Oliver are both my children. I believe you can achieve what he has. Keep at it!"
Dominic felt a mix of frustration and determination in the face of Rowan's expectant gaze. "Dad, I get it. I won't let you down."
