Josefina shook off Daniela's grip and stepped aside.
"I don't know how to play," Josefina admitted honestly.
Daniela had a bit of a sharp edge, and Josefina wasn't sure what she was up to.
"I'm no good at pool. You guys go ahead."
Another girl standing next to Daniela, her face all friendly and bright, chimed in, "You can totally learn! Come on, we'll show you. Calix is always saying great things about you. You're so smart; you'll get the hang of it in no time."
Jennie handed Josefina a pool cue, while Daniela held one too.
"Just watch us for a bit," Jennie encouraged with a smile, "You'll pick it up before you know it."
The balls were already set up on the table. Daniela struck a confident pose, aimed her cue with precision, and with a smooth push, sent the cue ball rolling to hit its target.
"Your turn, Josefina," Daniela said, a challenge in her tone.
Josefina had no choice but to mimic Daniela's actions. She lifted the cue, pushed it forward, and to everyone's surprise, sank a ball into the pocket.
Daniela and Jennie shared a look of shock. Was Josefina some kind of natural talent?
A flicker of envy crossed Daniela's eyes. She hadn't expected Josefina to catch on so quickly. Was she really that sharp?
"Wow, Josefina, you're amazing," Daniela complimented, though her tone was a bit stiff. "Now it's my turn again."
As Daniela took her shot, the ball went off course and smacked into Josefina's arm.
Josefina winced and shot Daniela a look. That had to be on purpose!
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Josefina!" Daniela exclaimed, feigning innocence. "I didn't mean for the ball to hit you."
Jennie added, "Josefina, maybe you should stand over here, just to be safe."
Josefina chuckled lightly. "I thought you said you were good at this game."
Jennie guided Josefina to the side. "Just stand here. I promise you won't get hit."
