"Josie, I know how much I want kids, but your feelings come first. If you're not ready for children, then that's that."
In the hush of the room, their eyes locked. Josefina could see the mix of longing and conflict in Oliver's gaze.
"I'm going to head out now," Josefina said as she stood up.
Oliver gently held her hand and pulled her into a tender hug.
"Oliver, really, let me go. I need to get back."
"Josie, walking sounds exhausting right now. Let me carry you to the car and drive you home."
Josefina chuckled, both amused and exasperated. "Oliver, you're being over-the-top. I’m pregnant, not helpless."
Oliver's stern expression softened into a warm smile. "Josie, I just want to make sure you're safe and sound."
As Oliver carried Josefina outside, she draped her arms around his neck, observing the determined look on his face with a blend of uncertainty and affection.
...
When Oliver entered the living room with Josefina in his arms, the family was caught off guard, rushing over in concern.
"Josie, are you okay? Did something happen?" Hattie asked, her face filled with worry.
Garrett instinctively reached for his phone, ready to dial for help. "Sweetheart, I’ll call an ambulance right away."
"Dad, Mom, I'm fine. Oliver's just being dramatic," Josefina said, trying to find the right words to explain the situation.
"Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Josie's perfectly alright. I just thought it would be easier to carry her," Oliver reassured them.
Hattie and Garrett's worry slowly eased.
