She looked up, tears brimming in her eyes. "Jonathan, why are you looking at me like that? You don't actually think I set up a trap for Clara, do you? If I really wanted to go after her, I would have done it sometime in the last six years. Why would I wait until now, and why would I use my own nephew?"

Her tearful offensive gave Jonathan a massive headache.

He closed his eyes. "Whatever happened, I wash my hands of it. Let the police handle the investigation."
