Clara curled her lips into a smirk.
In her past life, Vera and Jonathan's marriage had been rock solid, serving as Vera's strongest shield while she ruthlessly tormented Clara and her brothers.
But after today, that shield clearly had a massive crack in it.
Without Jonathan pulling strings, there was zero chance Harvey was walking away clean this time.
That night, Clara slept surprisingly well.
The next morning, the second she stepped out of her car at the academy gates, she heard endless chatter about the Lambert family's banquet.
"Did you hear what happened at the Lamberts' party?"
"You mean Serena's family? I heard it was a welcome party for her half-sister."
"Lillian got attacked at the banquet. Serena's cousin cornered her in the lounge and tried to assault her... It was awful!"
"I heard Lillian seduced him, and the whole ballroom caught them red-handed. Can you imagine? Total humiliation."
"She's just a high schooler doing stuff like that? She probably won't even have the face to show up to school anymore."
The gossip was flying thick and fast.
Clara remembered her past life, when she had been the one destroyed by public opinion. Luckily, high school had already ended by then, saving her from her classmates' mockery.
But precisely because she had graduated, Vera immediately forced her to marry into the Blanche family.
Why am I dwelling on the past again? Clara let out a self-deprecating chuckle and calmly headed toward her classroom.
"Clara!"
A familiar voice called out from behind.
She paused and turned to see Chase Yardley sprinting toward her, his backpack slung over one shoulder.
The gossiping crowd instantly fell silent.
Chase had always maintained the flawless image of an untouchable heir. No one had ever seen him look this frantic.
