Chapter 101-2
Giselle’s face fills with disappointment Hurt. The perfect picture of a wronged woman. “What is this. Ethan? I can understand if you refused to accept Emma without proot-But now that the DNA test results have come out, do you still refuse to acknowledge her? Can you really be so heartless to your own flesh and blood?”
The audacity. The sheer fucking audacity of this woman.
My sneer deepens. “Ethan-” my father starts, his voice heavy with warning.
But I cut him off by claiming the seat directly across from him. “Enter”
The door opens. Marcus walks in, carrying a laptop and two sealed envelopes. His expression is professionally neutral but I catch the hint of excitement in his eyes.
“Show him the video,” I command.
Marcus nods, connecting his laptop to the massive LED screen mounted above the fireplace. Within seconds, the screen fills with security footage.
Giselle. Clear as day. In the testing center’s hallway. Pulling a staff member aside.
And then-stuffing a thick stack of hundred-dollar bills into the staff’s hands.
The audio is equally damning.
Giselle’s voice, low and urgent: “I need you to switch the tube with the name Ethan Hale on it with this one. Do it cleanly. Make sure no one finds out.”
My father’s face has gone from stern to thunderous. Giselle’s has drained of all color.
“Before you ask,” I gesture to Marcus, who hands my father the two sealed envelopes.
“Those are the results of the DNA test. The first is mine with Emma-negative match, as I’ve been saying all along. The second is Emma with her biological father, Giselle’s ex-husband Jordan Quinn, the man who’s DNA Giselle tried to pass as mine to prove Emma as my daughter-positive maten, by the way. Ninety-nine point nine percent probability of paternity.”
My father opens the envelopes with shaking hands. Reads the results. His face cycles through shock, anger, betrayal.
“I anticipated that Giselle would try something like this,” I continue, my eyes never leaving her pale face. “Because I know how her mind works. How far she’s willing to go to trap a wealthy man into supporting her and her daughter. So I stationed multiple people at the testing center. Had them watch every step of the process. Record everything.”
I lean forward, my voice dropping to something deadly quiet. “Did you really think I’d be that easy to manipulate, Giselle? That I wouldn’t take precautions? That I’d just go along with your agreement to accept

DNA bout suspicion
“Etban, I can explain=” she starts, but I talk over her
“There’s nothing to explain. You tried to pass off another man’s child as mine. You bribed medical professionals to falsify legal documents. You involved an innocent child in your scheme without caring how it might affect her” My disgust is palpable trow. “You separated Emma from her real father. Blackmailed her to play along with your lie if she ever wanted to see her real father again. You used your own daughter as a pawn to secure money and status. What kind of mother are you?”
“I was desperate!” Giselle’s composure finally cracks. Tears stream down her face but they don’t move me. “Jordan left us with nothing! I needed to provide for Emma! You’re wealthy, successful-you could have given her everything!”
“So
you decided to trap me with lies.” My voice is flat. “To manipulate my father into pressuring me. To create a fake family based on fraud.”
“I wasn’t trying to trap you-I love you! I’ve always loved you!”
“You don’t love me. You love my bank account. There’s a difference.” I stand, done with this conversation. “And now you’re going to face the consequences of your actions.”
“What consequences?” Her voice rises with panic.
“I’m pressing charges for fraud and attempted extortion. My lawyers are already preparing the paperwork. And I’m contacting Jordan Quinn to inform him where his daughter is-the daughter you’ve been hiding
from him for the past year.”
“You can’t-”
“I can. And I will.” I turn to my father, who’s still sitting in stunned silence. “I told you from the beginning that Emma wasn’t mine. That Giselle was lying. But you didn’t believe me. You pressured me to ‘do the right thing’ without even considering that I might be telling the truth.”
His jaw clenches but he doesn’t argue. Can’t argue when the evidence is right there in front of him.
“This is exactly why I didn’t tell you about Sabrina right away,” I continue. “Because I knew you’d judge her. Judge me. Try to control who I can and can’t love based on your ideas of what’s ‘appropriate’ for the Hale
name.”
“Ethan-”
