Mom, Don't Cry! Here comes a new Daddy! novel Chapter 84

Chapter 84

(Dustin’s POV)

I have to see Sabrina.

The thought pounds through my head as lace up my shoes, my hands shaking with a combination of adrenaline and something to panic.

She’ll forgive me. She has to.

We have Jake. We have seven years of history, a connection that no amount of time or distance or new relationships can erase.

Ethan Hale might be rich, sure, he might be powerful and everything I’m not.

But he can never replace me in Sabrina’s life. He can never take the place of Jake’s real father.

I was her husband. Her first love. And will always be the father of her child.

That has to count for something.

Jessica’s face flashes through my mind-twisted with rage as the police led her away in handcuffs. The things she screamed. The accusations she hurled.

How could she even have the face to say all that after what she did?

I’ve never seen anyone more shameless and disgusting.

She tried to hurt Sabrina. Fuck! She hired men to get her sexually assaulted. Being a woman, how could she stoop so low?

And all for what? Petty jealousy? Misguided revenge? Some twisted need to win?

I thought I knew Jessica. Thought I understood her. Thought what we had was worth destroying my marriage for.

But looking at her now-seeing what she’s truly capable of-I realize I never knew her the way it mattered.

Yes, I once loved her.

But looking back now, I realize…I actually never loved her as much as I thought I did. At least, not with the same intensity and madness I once did in the past.

And after the stunt she pulled…just thinking about how Sabrina almost got sexually assaulted because of

her makes me see red.

What I felt for Jessica seven years ago was infatuation. Excitement. The thrill of the forbidden.

What I feel for her now is disgust.

The image of what could have happened to Sabrina makes my stomach turn. Makes rage burn so hot in my chest I can barely breathe.

Chaptches

Sabrine could have been destroyed, traumatized Broken in ways that would never heal.

And Jessica would have been responsible.

No. I would have been responsible. Because I’m the one who brought her into our lives.

I’m the one who chose her over Sabrina, who set this entire nightmare in motion.

I grab my jacket and storm out of Jessica’s apartment, not bothering to lock the door behind me. Even if someone robbed the place, the most I would do would be to clap and praise the thief for a job well done.

Oh, yeah. I don’t give a fuck about Jessica anymore.

All I care about is getting to Sabrina. Apologizing. Begging for her to forgive me.

Making her understand that I’m not the enemy anymore.

My car is parked on the street. I slide into the driver’s seat and pull out my phone, driving towards Sabrina’s house. Our house. The one we bought together five years ago.

I’m sorry. I never meant for any of this to happen. Jessica went too far. I didn’t know what she was planning. Please forgive me. For Jake’s sake.

The words sound hollow even in my

head.

But I’ll make her listen.

We’re bound together forever because of Jake. We can’t keep fighting like this.

We need to find a way to coexist. And maybe-maybe if I prove I’ve changed, prove I’m not the same man who betrayed her-

She might just give me another chance.

(Ethan’s POV)

I pace outside Sabrina’s examination room, my phone clutched in one hand, resisting the urge to burst through the door and demand updates.

She’s fine. The paramedics said she’s fine. No serious injuries. Just shock and minor bruising from the

ropes.

But I need to hear it from a doctor. Need medical confirmation that those bastards didn’t hurt her.

That I got there in time.

My phone rings. Detective Morrison from the precinct.

“Mr. Hale. We’ve gotten a confession from Jessica Morgan.”

“And?”

“She admits to hiring the men who kidnapped Ms. Moore. Claims she didn’t mean to do, that she was pressured by someone else.” His tone makes it clear he doesn’t believe that garbage excuse. “She’s saying

samentic else came up with the plan”

My jaw clenches. Who.”

“Freya. Her cousin and your personal secretary.”

“Are you arresting her?” My voice is dangerously quiet.

“Already in custody. She’s claiming she didn’t mean it. That she’d just meant it as a joke when her cousin started bitching to her about how her boyfriend is still hung up or his ex-wife.” Morrison pauses. “For what it’s worth, Mr. Hale, I think she’s telling the truth. She seems genuinely horrified by what Jessica has done.”

“That’s not for you to decide. If she’s involved in Sabrina’s kidnapping, then you follow the law and do what needs to be done.”
