Yolanda already knew about Danielle, the Barton Group’s heiress. Everyone in their social circle talked behind her back, saying she was just the daughter of an illegitimate child who got lucky. Nobody really respected her.

Teaming up with someone like that was asking for trouble. If Danielle could target Adriana today, she could easily turn on Yolanda tomorrow.

Dealing with unpredictable people was too exhausting.

She might as well take her chances with Curtis instead.

After adding him on social media, Yolanda went downstairs to meet Adriana.

She figured Curtis would take his time before even noticing her request.

But before the elevator reached the lobby, her phone buzzed. He’d already accepted and even messaged first.

“What danger?”

Yolanda’s face lit up. “Someone named Danielle came to me today. She wanted me to trick Adriana into meeting her alone. No clue what she’s up to.”

She sent him the recording she’d secretly made. “Mr. Lincoln, her offer sounded great, but my dad always told me to do what’s right.”

Yolanda knew she was betting big. She couldn’t read Curtis at all.

If he didn’t care about Adriana, she’d lose both Danielle’s deal and her shot with Curtis.

She was nervous. What if she’d made the wrong move?

Curtis never replied, even after she left the hotel.

Yolanda’s nerves kicked in. What was he thinking?

“Yolanda!” Adriana’s voice called from the entrance.

Yolanda quickly smiled and walked over. “Come on. Let’s hit the beach.”

Kenneth was the driver. Just then, he answered a call, and his face went serious,

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Lincoln. We won’t make it to the beach today.”

“Huh? Why not?” Adriana asked in surprise.

Kenneth glanced at Yolanda. “Mr. Lincoln is already on a flight back to Haldoria. He’ll land in about two

hours.”

Adriana was shocked. Curtis was coming back today? That was fast.

“It’s fine.” Yolanda said with a kind smile, hugging her. “Next time I’m free, we’ll hang out again.”

Adriana nodded, feeling bad. “Let me know when you’re in Haldoria.”

“Yeah, you’d better go.” Yolanda replied.

Kenneth drove off. “Mrs. Lincoln, Mr. Lincoln wants you to stay home tonight. Please don’t go anywhere.”

“But I promised to pick up Belinda tonight,” Adriana said, not wanting to break her promise.

Kenneth checked his watch. “You can talk to Mr. Lincoln when he gets back. He’ll be home around three this afternoon.”

She nodded, still confused about why Curtis suddenly wanted her to stay home.

The whole thing felt strangely tense.

Yolanda sprawled across her bed, sighing like the world was ending. Did Curtis call Adriana back just to stop her from meeting her?

Had she meddled in something she shouldn’t have, only to end up with nothing, and lose a friend?

Feeling down, she opened Curtis‘ Instagram.

His profile looked perfect, spotless, except for one random post from the 27th of last month. It was a casual photo showing two marriage certificates.

Yolanda’s jaw dropped. Curtis actually made their marriage public. Did he care about Adriana that much?

Right when she was about to scroll deeper, her phone rang. It was her father.

“Sweetheart!” he said in fluent Centralian, laughing so hard that he could barely breathe.. “How did you even meet Curtis? He’s a huge name in Harborton! You really hit the jackpot!”

Yolanda shot up excitedly. “Dad, what happened?”

“Someone from Lincoln Group’s business team called! They want a long–term deal with us, and they’re even adding 3% profit! Isn’t that amazing? Did you save his life?”

Yolanda slapped a hand over her mouth, completely stunned.
