Chapter 119 Broken Rings and Schemes
Adriana could hear her own heartbeat pounding in her chest–and Curtis’s heartbeat too.
Even if she had been oblivious before, now it was clear. She was falling for him.

At Matthew’s place.
He came home frustrated after failing to find Adriana.
The living room was dim. Natasha sat on the couch, unmoving.
Matthew switched on the light and nearly jumped.
The place was a complete mess.
He froze. “What the hell happened here?”
Natasha looked up, her eyes red. “This ring–did you give it to Adriana?”
Matthew frowned, striding forward to pick up the ring box on the table. It was empty.
“Where’s the ring?” His tone was sharp.
He had never spoken to Natasha so harshly before, and she was visibly furious.
“Matthew!” she yelled, losing control. “I’m your fiancée! We’re about to get married! What are you doing? You said you waited for me for four years. Is this how you waited?”
“Natasha, don’t push it! Yeah, I had people around me these four years, but I didn’t get married. What about you? You ran off to Moweland and got married. Did I ever throw that in your face?” His anger boiled over.
He’d never dared to say this before, afraid she’d blow up. But tonight, he couldn’t hold it in anymore.
Natasha stared at him, breathing hard, her face twisted in disbelief.
“You’re doing all this for Adriana? For some worthless woman?” Her voice shook with rage.
Hatred twisted inside her–she hated Adriana for stealing Matthew’s heart all those years.
“This has nothing to do with Adriana,” Matthew said coldly. I’m the one who failed her.” He grabbed the ring box again and started searching the room.
“Where’s the ring?” His tone grew darker.
“I threw it in the trash outside,” Natasha said with a sneer.
Matthew’s expression hardened. He turned and stormed out.
That ring was a one–of–a–kind engagement ring–custom–designed by a jeweler for Adriana, with her name engraved on the inside.

She never imagined that the man who used to be such a neat freak would go digging through a trash bin.
At that moment, a wave of panic hit her.
She couldn’t afford to wait any longer.
Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to calm down.
She had to make him marry her–soon.
She grabbed her phone and called Matthew’s mother, Elise Warren. “Mrs. Langford, I heard Mr. Raymond brought that illegitimate son into the company. If Matthew doesn’t marry me soon, he might lose the shares. Mr. Gordon left him.”
Elise’s voice was full of fury and worry. “Exactly! Why haven’t you two made it official yet?”
“Mrs. Langford, something’s happened around Matthew,” Natasha said softly. “Do you remember that woman who got Mia sent to jail? The one named Adriana Xander?” Natasha’s eyes darkened. She was ready to let someone else do her dirty work.
“That orphan? I haven’t even dealt with her yet,” Elise snapped. “Mia can’t stay in jail. Matthew said he’d handle it, but nothing’s happened. What’s he waiting for?”
Mia had been spoiled all her life. A few days in a detention center must have been torture for her.
“Adriana’s been hanging around Matthew,” Natasha continued, voice trembling as if she were hurt. “Not only did she get Mia locked up, but she’s still clinging to him. She won’t let him marry me.”
On the other end, Elise exploded. “That little tramp thinks she can marry into our family? She must have a death wish!”
Then she hung up.
Natasha wiped her tears and let out a cold laugh.
Letting Elise handle Adriana was far better than getting her own/hands dirty.
Her phone buzzed. It was her father, Alex Jones.
“Get home now! Have you seen what’s online? The Jones Group’s reputation is tanking because of you! Several partners have already pulled out!” He shouted furiously.
Natasha’s face went pale. “Dad, I’ll come home right away”
“If you don’t marry Matthew soon, you’re out of the Jones family,” he snapped before hanging up.
