Chapter 130 Adriana Is Pregnant

Adriana shook her head. “I haven’t taken any medication or gotten any shots. Believe it or not, it’s up to you.”

Her heart was beating fast. She wondered if it was from her prayers. If she were really pregnant…

Tears filled Adriana’s eyes as she stepped forward, picked up the test results, and smiled through them.

Can it be true? Am I pregnant?

“Adriana, someone like you has no credibility. If you’ve got any guts, come back next week for another test!” Nicole snapped, her voice tight with anger. Even if Adriana was pregnant, she had to make sure it ended within the week. She definitely wouldn’t let Adriana keep that baby.

If the pregnancy were real, the divorce would be delayed for at least a year.

A whole year–way too long. Too many things could go wrong at that time.

“Well then, I’ll check again in a week.” Adriana tightened her grip on the test results.

“Let’s hope you really are pregnant,” Harold spat out a harsh remark before turning and leaving.

Nicole gave Adriana one last sharp look before leaving, too.

Once everyone had left, Irene approached. “Adriana, how old are you?”

Adriana looked at Irene with gratitude. “Thank you, I’m 23 this year.”

Irene nodded. Twenty–three was just the right age.

“Anna had a rough life; it’s about time she got something good,” Margaret choked out. “Years ago, someone left her at the door of our orphanage. Most of the kids here have special needs, many with congenital diseases or disabilities, but Anna has always been healthy and beautiful. I can’t understand how her parents could be so cruel.”

Irene’s hands trembled slightly as she took a breath.

Adriana had been abandoned at the orphanage’s doorstep.

Adriana looked like a smart, polite, and beautiful chill from the start.

“Congratulations! Now that you’re carrying Curtis’s baby, I think your bad luck’s finally turning around. “Curtis may be a bit of a jerk, but he’s protective,” Irene said with a warm smile, patting her head. “What a lovely young lady.”

Adriana blushed and lowered her gaze. “Thank you…”

She had just gotten the words out when Irene grabbed a strand of her hair. She pulled it hard enough to

make Adriana’s eyes sting.

Irene glanced at her own ring with irritation. “Ugh, this stupid thing is always snagging on stuff. Did that

hurt?”

Adriana quickly shook her head. It was just a few hairs, no big deal.

“Well, if that’s all. You should go home with Margaret and rest well. No need to go back to the hotel; just stay at Curtis’s place since you’re pregnant now,” Irene instructed the driver to take Adriana home.

“That’s too much trouble. We can take a taxi … ” Adriana felt embarrassed.

“No big deal. I’ve got a checkup too, so the driver can take you home first and then come back for me,” Irene said. Then she grinned and added, “Besides, you’re carrying a baby now–treat yourself like a VIP in those early months.” She was clearly telling Adriana not to feel awkward about it.

Adriana couldn’t argue anymore, so she nodded and left with Margaret.

Once Adriana was gone, Irene looked down at the hair in her hand.

Whether it was true or not, she would get a paternity test done first.

She wasn’t the type to sit around guessing; she believed in proof.

Placing the hair in a sealed bag, Irene sat on a bench and made a call. “Come pick me up from Haldoria Hospital and help me arrange a paternity test. It needs to be kept strictly confidential.”

A man on the other end chuckled. “If your family weren’t so rich, all these paternity tests would’ve bankrupted you by now. Ever think about opening your own lab?”
