Chapter 132 No Hard Feelings
Adriana looked innocent; she wasn’t upset at all.
“Did my grandpa come by and tick you off?” Curtis asked again, watching her carefully.

Adriana shook her head. “It’s fine. I get why he doesn’t like me. After all, with your status, there must be many girls eager to get close to you.”
Curtis didn’t say anything. Instead, he pulled her down next to him on the couch and wrapped his arms around her, settling her on his lap.
Adriana felt her ears turn a little red. Wasn’t this a bit too intimate?
But if her sugar daddy wanted to hold her, then so be it.
“My family has been through a lot in the past. Grandpa… hates women who approach the family with ulterior motives. While there are reasons for that, it doesn’t justify him blindly believing gossip,” Curtis said. He knew his grandfather had gone too far with Adriana. “Don’t worry–I’ll handle him.”
Adriana shook her head. “But he’s your grandfather, and it would put you in a difficult position.”
She understood that having Curtis argue with his grandfather repeatedly would be tough for
him.
“We’ll go back for the follow–up next week. If they confirm I’m really pregnant, it’ll make things easier when you talk to him.” Adriana said, hoping the results won’t let her down.
Curtis rested his hand gently over her belly. “I’ve been working pretty hard here. Our baby better pull its weight too, right?”
Adriana couldn’t help but laugh. “Yeah, let’s hope so.”
At Silverwave Hotel.
Irene returned to her room, kicking her high heels aside and jumping onto the bed.
“I’m exhausted!”
A man stepped out of the bathroom, hair still damp from a shower. The buzz cut made him look extra tough.
“Gary, come over and give my legs a massage,” Irene said without hesitation, rolling over to let

Gary felt helpless. They’d been seeing each other so long they might as well have been married. But Irene insisted on keeping things under wraps. She said it made the relationship “more exciting.”
“Your nephew’s wife is pregnant. Your sister’s family finally gets another generation,” Irene said, sounding exhausted.
Gary’s expression tightened for a second. He just frowned and stayed quiet.
People always joked that nephews end up looking like their uncles–and honestly, Gary really did share some of Curtis’s features.
Seeing Gary silent, Irene glanced at him. “How long are you going to hold a grudge against him? You can’t blame him entirely for what happened to your sister; he was just a kid back then. You can’t pin your sister’s death on him; he didn’t want to lose his mother either.”
Gary remained silent, continuing to massage Irene’s legs, pressing a bit too hard.
“Hey!” Irene yelped and kicked him lightly. “Are you working out your anger on me now?”
Gary grabbed her ankle, pulled her toward him, and pinned her under him in one quick motion.
After eight years in the military, the pressure he exuded made Irene swallow hard.
God, he was hot.
Irene had always had a weakness for a good–looking man. If Gary hadn’t been this attractive, she would’ve moved on years ago. But here she was, still sneaking around with him.
“Gary, did you do the paternity test I asked for?” Irene lifted her hand to cup his chin.
Gary’s mind flicked back to the first time they met; a friend had invited him to a bar.
He graduated from military school and went straight into the service, so it was rare for him to get some time off … Meeting Irene, who boldly flirted with him, felt like stepping out of the beginner zone and running into a top–tier seductress.
She never stuck around for anyone. She’d flirt, have her fun, and move on. But somehow, he’d been hooked ever since–and she still refused to make things official.
“Maybe we should have a kid too,” Gary’s voice was hoarse.
Irene was child–free by choice. She worked in showbiz, and now that she was pushing forty, getting pregnant would put her in the high–risk category anyway.

She wasn’t about to risk her health for that.
“Do you think I’m a girl in my early twenties? If you want a kid, go find a younger girl,” Irene said, kicking Gary again.
Gary fell silent for a moment before kissing Irene, holding her chin.
Irene picked up on his mood right away. “Let me guess–your dad’s on your case about getting married and having a kid?”
Gary wasn’t exactly young anymore–even if he was three years younger than Irene, he was still
After his sister’s death, Samuel Harrison had no other heirs, leaving Gary as the sole descendant …
Just like the Lincolns, where Curtis was also the only heir.
So, both families were really focused on having grandkids.
Adriana being pregnant with Curtis’s child meant she held a vital connection to the Lincolns‘ legacy.
“It’s getting serious,” Gary said, his hands still moving as he tugged at Irene’s clothes.
“I can’t give you a baby,” Irene said firmly.
A woman has to live for herself.
Once she had a child, she wouldn’t be herself anymore.
She liked her life exactly as it was–simple and carefree. Gary was into her, so she’d stay a while longer. And the moment he wasn’t? She’d just walk away. No mess, no strings, no hard feelings.
