16 Your Final Warning
The trending topic vanished fast.
Adriana sat on the bed in her cheap motel room, a bitte smile tugging at her lips.
Money and power could erase anything. In just a single lay, it was like the news had never existed.
Georgette sent her a voice message. “Adriana, people like us with no status or backing can’t win against the rich. Please take care of yourself.”
“Thanks,” Adriana replied.
Georgette continued, “Cheryl tried to bribe me. She offered me 100 grand to turn on you and drag your name through the mud. I didn’t take it, but … you should watch your back. Not everyone’s going to say no to that kind of money. What if your classmates turn against you too?”
Her voice trembled. “I quit university because of her. That opportunity should’ve been mine. But she took it. She even got my roommates to cut me off by using her background…
Georgette’s voice cracked. She understood how hard this fight was going to be.
Adriana was fighting alone. That made everything harder and scarier.
“I know… ” Adriana said softly, her voice shaky. Then, she forced a smile. “Go to sleep, Georgette … I’ll be fine. I’m not scared of them.”
When the call ended, she sat curled in the corner, arms wrapped around herself.
She didn’t let the tears fall.
She couldn’t afford to cry.
And she wasn’t going to quit.
The university hadn’t finalized the list for the overseas program. With public pressure still fresh, they were hesitant to release anything.
That meant there was still a shot.
Adriana wasn’t backing down.
Her phone kept buzzing. She’d already blocked Matthew, but he had his ways.
A loud knock followed. “Adriana! Open the door!”
Of course, he found me. He’s Matthew, after all.
But this time, something felt different. She felt a coldness creep into her. She had no idea what he’d do next for Natasha.
“Adriana, open up,” Matthew snapped, clearly out of patience.
She took a breath and pulled the door open.
Matthew barged. in and shoved her back.
Her spine slammed into the doorknob, pain shooting through her body. Her eyes welled up.

I pushed her to the edge? Seriously?
