“Savannah’s meeting with me… Silas must have known about it. She’d barely left the restaurant before he was sitting across from me,” Adriana said with a shrug.

At the restaurant, every move Savannah made had almost certainly been under Mister’s watchful eye.

The moment Savannah walked out, Silas took the seat across from Adriana.

“What did he say?” Curtis asked, instantly on guard.

“He said he wanted to get to know me. The guy was cautious, didn’t say much of substance for a first meeting. He just gave me this. I’m still not sure what it means.” Adriana pulled a hair clip from her pocket. It looked vaguely familiar, but she couldn’t place it.

What was Silas playing at, giving her a hair clip?

“Psycho,” Curtis muttered, grabbing it to toss in the trash. Man understands man. Silas was here with an agenda, and it was glaringly obvious.

“With all the buzz around you and Justin, and him refusing to honor the marriage pact, Silas probably sees an opening. He thinks he can slide in during your supposed ‘single‘ period, especially now that you’re the de facto heir to the Barton fortune.” Curtis guessed that Silas’s aim was Barton Group.

After all, Mister had schemed for years, targeting the combined resources of the Bartons, the Gills, the Lincolns, and the Harrisons.

He had a theory about why Silas had given her that clip, but he dared not voice it. He didn’t want Adriana remembering.
