Chapter 39 Hello, I’m Adriana’s Husband
“Take whatever you like.”
Inside the luxury store, Curtis sat in the VIP lounge while the staff brought over all the newest collections for Adriana to choose from.
Adriana was learning for the first time… that you didn’t actually have to “shop” in luxury stores. If you just sat, they’d bring out all the newest and limited–edition items, even ones not displayed on the shelves.
Feeling a bit mixed inside, she glanced up at the limited–edition bags displayed on the wall- the ones that supposedly required spending three million just to be eligible to buy.
Last time she came here, the staff didn’t even look at her.
This time, one of them was literally crouching in front of her, introducing the items.
“Ma’am, you look familiar. Have you been here before?” The sales associate smiled.
Adriana stayed quiet.
“This one’s really nice, take a look.” The sales associate quickly changed the subject.
Adriana turned to Curtis. “Maybe we shouldn’t buy anything. I don’t really need any of this.”
With her usual lifestyle and spending habits, she believed all these things were unnecessary.
A bag worth hundreds of thousands, even millions, meant nothing to her right now.
“Okay, then let’s go somewhere else.” Curtis respected her choice and didn’t push it. Still, he casually picked out a few bags and pieces of jewelry he thought suited her, telling Kenneth to handle the purchase.
Adriana didn’t argue–Curtis did have good taste. Everything he chose fit her perfectly.
The sales associate escorted Adriana out with exaggerated courtesy, their attitude shifting more dramatically than a rollercoaster.
Adriana followed Curtis absentmindedly, not sure which fancy store he was taking her to next.
“Let’s go to Brightwell Street,” Curtis said casually once they got in the car.
Adriana stared at him in surprise. “Brightwell Street? That’s the street full of food stalls near Haldoria University, isn’t it?”

“I just bought you a wedding gift,” Curtis said with a raised brow. “Shouldn’t you get me something in return?”

Only then did Adriana realize she should get him a gift too. “Oh! Okay… But, what should I get you?”
Curtis probably had everything already, right?
“Is there anything good to eat on that street?” Curtis asked.
Adriana’s eyes lit up. “Yes! There’s this hot dog place I used to work at. The owner’s nice, and the food is super clean!”
But as soon as she said that, her excitement faded a little. Someone like Curtis would never eat street food, right?
“I like hot dogs,” Curtis said with a nod. “Let’s try it.”
Adriana couldn’t hide her excitement. Her boss was surprisingly easygoing.
Guess you really can’t judge people by their looks, or by what others say.
She used to think all people in high positions were as unapproachable as Matthew.
But Curtis was actually willing to go eat street food with her.
The car stopped right in front of the entrance to the street food area, and many students turned to look.
After all, it was a multi–million luxury car with a custom plate to match its flashy style— something rare even in Haldoria.
Seeing people gathering around, Adriana hesitated to get out. She whispered to Curtis, “Next time we come to a place like this, we should just take the subway or a cab. Otherwise, the vendors might overcharge us.”
Curtis chuckled at how serious she looked. “Okay, we’ll take the subway next time.”
Adriana’s chest tightened a little.
He said next time?
Did that mean he would often come with her?
Her ears turned red, and she forced herself to open the car door.

Her heart was racing, but along with it came a wave of fear.
If she fell for Curtis–knowing he already had someone in his heart, knowing their marriage was just a contract–it would only end in heartbreak.
“Isn’t that Adriana?”
