Chapter 82 Tense Car Ride
Adriana didn’t say a word and shrank back slightly against Curtis.
She had assumed Matthew had started the fight.
Finished
“Matthew… ” The car window rolled down, and Natasha, who had been holding back for a long time, finally spoke in a low, firm voice. “We need to go now, or we’ll miss our flight.”
Matthew frowned, glanced at Adriana, and got into the car.
Natasha’s gaze lingered on Adriana as she spoke coolly. “See you in Haldoria, Adriana.”
Her words carried a clear, almost threatening weight.
“Curtis … you guys didn’t really fight, did you?” Adriana huffed in frustration, too scared to really get angry.
She was still very afraid of Curtis.
Curtis’s lips curved into a relaxed smile, his mood seemingly unaffected. “Since you stuck up for me, I’ll treat you to two servings of dessert balls.”
Adriana reluctantly murmured her agreement, letting Curtis pull her toward the car.
“Curtis!” Tom drove up, and the rear window rolled down, revealing Nicole’s pretty face.
Looking somewhat uncomfortable, Tom got out and opened the door. “Mr. Curtis … Mr. Harold asked you to take Ms. Nicole shopping and show her around Harborton.”
Curtis’s expression darkened instantly; his good mood evaporated.
Nicole, however, didn’t seem to notice, patting the seat beside her. “Curtis, sit here.”
It was a five–seater car. Nicole sitting in the back meant Curtis and Adriana would have to split up. No way the three of them would squeeze into the rear seat.
Adriana silently moved toward the front passenger seat, but Curtis grabbed her.
Curtis, for some reason, was in a weird mood. He shot Adriana a cold look. “Where do you think you’re going?”
She’s not even trying to shield me, just pushing me toward another woman?
“I’m getting in the car?” Adriana replied, puzzled.
“Sit in the back,” Curtis said flatly.
Adriana nodded and got in, sitting next to Nicole.
Nicole huffed, clearly annoyed.
Adriana had assumed Curtis would take the front, but he squeezed in with her instead.

Chapter 82 Tense Car Ride
Even Tom, opening the front passenger door, froze.
Instead of taking the spacious front seat, Curtis insisted on crowding the back.
Curtis stretched his long legs out, forcing Adriana to scoot closer to Nicole.
Nicole, irritated, bumped Adriana slightly and reluctantly scooted closer to the edge.
Curtis raised an eyebrow, leaning back lazily while continuing to stretch his legs.
Finished
Adriana didn’t dare move any further, sitting stiffly in the middle like she was sitting on pins and needles.
Both sides were equally intimidating, and she couldn’t afford to offend either.
“I’m suffocating!” Nicole complained, glancing at Adriana. “Can’t you sit in the front?”
Adriana quietly looked down, saying nothing.
Curtis’s expression darkened slightly. During a braking pause, he grabbed Adriana around the waist and pulled her right onto his lap.
Adriana stared at him in shock. Isn’t this… a little too much?
Nicole’s face darkened, clearly furious.
“Curtis… I can sit by myself,” she murmured, trying to wriggle free from his embrace.
“Just stay like this,” Curtis said lazily, adjusting Adriana so her legs rested squarely against Nicole.
Nicole’s eyes reddened with anger. She tried to inch closer to Curtis, but Adriana’s long legs blocked her, forcing Nicole to sulk at the edge of the seat.
After just returning to the Bartons, Nicole couldn’t gauge Curtis’s temper yet.
The look he had given her earlier had been terrifying.
She stared anxiously out the window, telling herself not to rush. There was plenty of time.
Since the Bartons and the Lincolns had an engagement, plus all those family ties, Curtis would be hers sooner or later.
Once she married Curtis, the first thing she would do was send Adriana abroad, never to return.
During the drive to the shopping district, Adriana stayed in Curtis’s lap. At first, she was tense, but the slow pace made her tired, so she cautiously shifted her weight.
