Everyone in school hasn’t stopped talking about the long-awaited rematch. I don’t know why they sounded so excited about it when one of them almost lost his life the last time they played but since when did those rich snubs care about each other? All they care about is what entertained them, and right now, nothing can beat the rematch news.

I kept eavesdropping on anyone who talked about the rematch since I had no friend to ask or anyone to talk to for that matter. I pretended to be searching a book in my locker, just so I could remain in the hallway where everyone was gossiping about it from all angles.

“It’s going to be a big day! I have canceled all my plans for the day because I won’t miss it for anything. “One of the girls giggled, and I almost asked what was so special about the rematch, but I knew that would be an attempted suicide.

If Sabrina found out that I asked anyone about Kael, she’d bury me alive just to prove a point.

I decided against it when another one spoke. “The game is going to be bloody, I can feel it.”

“I know, right? The last time they placed, Damon didn’t go easy on Kael and even sent him to the emergency room. It was a surprise that he survived that hit from how drenched he was in his own blood,” one of the girls shook her head. “I wondered if he’s going to retaliate too.”

Retaliate? They’re all excited about the rematch because they want Kael to either kill Damon or leave him badly injured? How twisted can that be?

“I don’t care who wins,” another one shrugged. “Those two are literally the hottest men alive once they stepped in the rink. I can’t wait for the game!”

“Girl! You have to pick a side,” one of the girls sounded almost offended to hear that her friend liked them both.

“Those two are rivals. You can either support Damon or Kael,” she hissed. “But I’d definitely pick Kael. I mean, I heard he was the one that asked for a rematch and even drove all the way to their school just for that. It’s going to be so intense, and Kael won’t lose twice in a row.”

“It’s really shocking because Kael never mentioned anything about that day or supported a rematch even when everyone was literally begging him for one, and yet, he proposed it when everyone least expected it. That’s what a real man does.”

I didn’t get excited about the rematch. What if Damon wins again? What if one of them wasn’t just sent to the ER. What if one of them actually died?

My stomach twisted from the thought, and I pushed the thought away immediately. I shouldn’t be thinking of anything negative right now, but listening to everyone talk about their past as if it was some thrilling experience didn’t settle well with

I left the hallway, having had enough news on the rematch. The eacher taking the next class hadn’t arrived yet, so everyone was in a group, whispering when I overheard someone voice my opinion.

“As interesting as the rematch sounded, I’m curious to know why the sudden change of heart. Everyone has moved on from it, so what is the point?”

“Easy for you to say. You’re not the one who almost lost your life

I watched as friends argued over the news. Some had even starte placing a bet on who would win, and I couldn’t help but worry about Kael.

The bell rang, and I picked my bag and left immediately. I was just as curious as the rest of the school to know why Kael made that decision, so I did the only thing I could think of.

I took a different route, avoiding all the students so that no one would notice me as I went to sit at the side of the road. I was sure Kael would pass through when going home.

Now was the only time I could speak to him. Alpha Zane had warned me to stay away from Kael and with the whole tension

home either. going on between them, I didn’t think he’d want to speak to me

I had been waiting for the last hour, and it didn’t look like Kael was coming. Has he gone already? Maybe he took a different route or was hanging out with his friends.

My stomach churned at the thought and I couldn’t believe I came here without thinking it through. I rose to my feet, contemplating between staying or leaving when his sport car rumbled past me.

Shit. I tried waving my hands, hoping he’d notice me when the car came to a halt. He reversed to where I was standing. He pushed the door open and rushed down with a concerned look on his face.

“Are you okay? What are you doing here? Did something happen?” His eyes searched my body as if looking for any injury. when I shook my head.

“I’m fine,” I said, and he visibly relaxed. “I knew you’d pass this route, so I came here, waiting for you.”

“You’re waiting for me? Why?” He sounded surprised to hear me and I guess it was not or never.

“Can you take me home?” I asked, and he didn’t even allow me to finish before shaking his head in disapproval.

“My father wouldn’t like that,” he muttered.

“He didn’t have a problem with you bringing me to school before, did he?”

Kael looked like he was about to say something before biting back his words. He opened the door, gesturing that I get inside.

I gave him a grateful smile as we both got in, and the car roared to life. The drive was filled with silence, and I wondered if this was the best time to ask him about Damon.

After rehearsing what to say for the hundredth time, I finally opened my mouth to speak. “Everyone had been talking about you and Damon in school,” I started, and he kept his gaze fixed on the road, but I knew he was listening.

“Is there something I should know about you two?” His body stiffened, as his grip tightened against the wheels.
