I took my seat in front of him quietly, hoping there wouldn’t be a repeat of what happened the last time he sat down behind me. I didn’t need detention with everything I’m already going through, but I didn’t trust Kael to behave.

The fact that he wasn’t paying me any attention right now should mean something, right? I dropped my bag on the floor next to me, and all my hopes of Kael ignoring me went down the drain.

I didn’t need to look back to feel his gaze on me, making a hair on my back stand on end. My body went rigid in my seat, as memories of him kissing me gently in the car came hunting me.

It was so passionate that I couldn’t brush it off as one of his usual stunts. Inhaling one’s scent, kissing one’s forehead, they’re ways to show affection, and you wouldn’t do that to someone you hate, right?

I was certain that we had passed the hating stage, which scares me even more because one can never be too sure when it came to Kael, and to think the mark on my neck had been itching for him to complete what he started wasn’t of much help either.

I didn’t even realize the teacher had walked in or was talking to me until I felt a nudge on my shoulder. I looked up to see the teacher shaking her head at a comment she made, why the students burst into a fit of laughter.

“Can you at least pay attention today that you came early?” she drew her brows together, and I knew she didn’t like me one bit, I just couldn’t prove it.

“And why do you look so out of it? Isn’t it too early for that? You had a few days’ break for a reason, didn’t you?”

“She probably spent the break making shift,” someone yelled at the back, and everyone laughed at his supposed choke.

“Where is your chicken uniform? Did you keep them in your bag for later? I’m sure your boss wouldn’t want you serving in school uniforms.”

“How about you give us a discount if we patronize you?” Another one asked, and the whole class erupted in laughter.

“It’s better than making no payment if you ask me.”

The teacher smiled at their cruel jokes, and that was enough to ruin my mood. I knew she didn’t like me, but isn’t she supposed to at least pretend to be the responsible adult here and caution them?

I didn’t say a word. Not that it would change anything though and I couldn’t help but wonder if a day will come when they’d grow up and stop picking on me.

The teacher clapped her hands, gaining everyone’s attention as she began her lecture, but my mind had been long distracted.

The constant bullying was starting to affect me mentally, and all I wanted was a break. A break from my mother’s constant nagging. A break from school. I just wanted everyone to move on and leave me the fuck alone, but who was I kidding? Even teachers have joined in their badness now.

I wondered what life would have been like if I hadn’t moved in with Kael. A sad smile tugged my lips, as I sniffed back the tears that threatened to leave my face.

That’d only means one thing. More part time jobs. More bills to pay, and more hectic jobs to keep up with. Oh, maybe these bullies would show up at least once in a day to make my life even more insufferable.

It doesn’t matter where I live. It was as if I was just destined to suffer because nothing seemed to be helping it.

I inhaled sharply, when I felt something crawl up the back of my leg. I jumped, startled from the feeling, which earned me a few scornful looks. It was nothing I wasn’t used to, but at least the teacher didn’t notice me or she wouldn’t have thought twice before slapping me with detention.

Yes, I’m starting to think she hates me that much. Or maybe she just needed a weak link to bully too since she Successfully unlocked!

had to suck up to half of the students because their parents can render her jobless with just a word.

I turned back sharply to see Kael was already staring at me. I was expecting to see some mischievous grin in his eyes because everything is a joke to everyone, but when our eyes met, something shifted inside me.

He didn’t seem to be having fun with their stupid jokes, instead, his eyes searched mine as if he was… concerned?

You’re overthinking things again.

I had totally forgotten about him since the teacher came in, and I just couldn’t stop thinking about why he was looking at me like that.

He wasn’t worried, right?

“Kael Drakenwood? Worried about you? Tell me another joke.” A sarcastic voice said in my head, and I swear I hated how no one makes me feel less of myself than the cold voices in my head.

I tried to turn around to see if he was still watching, as if the way my skin itched from his gaze wasn’t proof enough when I felt his legs trailing mine.

I jolted from my seat, but before I could gain any attention, he dragged my seat backward, grabbing my waist as he held me still.

My breath hitched because I’d be doomed if anyone finds out what was happening, but thankfully, they seemed pretty invested in what the teacher was saying to notice me.

“Stay still and don’t act like you’re not getting wet right now,” he growled into my ear, and my pussy throbbed.

My heart pounded in my ear, and before I could snap out of it, Kael’s hands moved from my waist, moving an inch further to my legs.

I slapped a hand across my mouth, trying to keep my voice steady. What the hell was he thinking? We’re in the middle of a class and anyone can see us.

I didn’t know how he was about to bring his hands closer, considering the position we were sitting in, but when his hands fell between my thighs, my body stiffened.

My mouth hung open, eyes widened, but no sound came out, and that seemed to get the teacher’s attention.

I’m fucked.
