NEVAEH
I bolted out of class as soon as the teacher left, but the tingling sensation between my legs made it difficult to forget about what Kael did. My cheeks flushed from the thought, and as much as I hated to admit it, I loved every bit of it.
Touching me like that is not only crazy, but it was awfully thrilling. The thought of getting caught made my heart race, but as soon as he withdrew his hands, I missed it immediately.
I didn’t know what was going through his head when he decided to do that, but feeling his hands around me reminded me of the night at the cave, and I wanted him to finish what he started so badly even though I knew I was being unreasonable.
The last bell rang, and I pushed my way through the crowded hallway to go home when I noticed a familiar car in the parking lot. I was going to ignore it because I knew there was no way on earth my mother would come to my school to pick me up.
She was too busy pretending to be the perfect fit for Alpha Zane and trying too hard to fit in, but when the window rolled down and my eyes met hers, something shifted inside me.
My mother coming all over here to pick me up couldn’t be a good thing. She’s not about to send me back to Damon’s place, is she? But then again, she looked rather too angry to someone who was about to do what she wanted, so I knew that couldn’t have been the case..
“Get in,” she snapped as soon as I moved closer to the car.
I wished I hadn’t moved closer to the car but got in anyway. As soon as I stepped in, she stepped on the accelerator and drove off. The car was filled with awkward silence. I stared out through the window, afraid she’ d snap at any time because seeing the green veins that popped on her forehead, I could tell just how pissed she was.
I watched her muscles flexed against the wheel from the corner of my eyes, but I didn’t dare say a word. As if she sensed my gaze, she slammed her foot on the brake, making the car come to a halt abruptly.
I swung forward in my seat from the force before the car stopped. I snapped my head to look at my mother because if she was planning to get us killed, I might as well just get off now.
I opened my mouth to speak, but before I could, she turned towards me angrily, eyes flashing with rage.
“What the hell on earth did you tell Kael?” She demanded, shifting her gaze away from me like I was an eyesore. I didn’t understand what she was talking about, but then again, when did anything about her ever make any sense?
“I don’t know…”
“Of course, you never know anything,” she sneered, her eyes throwing me daggers. “Don’t you ever get tired of playing the victim? Is that your pathetic way of getting people to feel sorry for you? Because unless you play the victim card, no one gives a fuck about you?”
I was used to yelling by now, but most times, I at least knew why she was ranting, but it made no sense that she’d just show up at my school and start talking about what’s not.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I muttered.
Her hands curled into a fist at the sound of my voice before she spoke again. “What the hell on earth did you tell Kael about your father?!”
She grabbed my shirt, yanking me closer as she breathed out a raged breath. I still don’t understand what was happening, but asking questions is obviously useless since she is not capable of talking without getting physical.
“My biggest regret was bringing you to the pack house with me,” she released her grip, and I almost hit my head on the window from the force, but she didn’t even bat an eye.

“If I had known you were such a green snake, I’d have allowed you to rot in that hell hole, running between part time jobs to make end meets, because then, you won’t at least be a fucking thorn on my flesh.”
She said in a single breath, and having someone speak about how I lived before moving to the pack house for the second time today, made my heart twisted sharply.
I wouldn’t have to work so hard if she wasn’t selfish enough to kill my father just so she could move on, but what does that change now?
“And don’t even think I don’t know what you’re planning, because I do,” she spat. “I know you’re jealous of me and want to make Alpha Zane and Kael yours, but I’d die before I let that happen.”
A scoffed at her words because she was starting to sound crazy, but the look she shot at me stopped me from making any further reaction.
“If you think you can turn Alpha Zane against me by using his son, you’re very mistaken. I worked hard to get here and I wouldn’t allow a stupid brat like you to ruin everything for me.”
I parted my lips to speak, but at this point she must really be enjoying the sound of her own voice because she kept cutting me off and wouldn’t even allow me to speak.
I inhaled sharply, trying to stay calm because it’s impossible to know what had triggered her to make the sudden outburst, but it didn’t seem like she planned to stop soon.
“It’s only a matter of time before I would have Alpha Zane kick you out, so you better enjoy your time while it lasts.”
Without another word, she turned on the ignition and drove us home. I still didn’t understand why she’d come down to my school to pick me up, only to start accusing me of things.
As soon as we arrived home, I headed straight to my room. Exhausted from having everyone talk shit to my face all day, I started taking off my clothes to settle into something comfortable, when I heard a noise by the
window.
I turned sharply at the sound to see a figure opening my window from outside, when Kael tumbled in.
