Noah doesn’t even look surprised when I show up on his doorstep a few days later. He has prepared coffee for us both and I’m shocked when his mate, Amy, takes Crow from my arms with a big smile.

“We have been waiting for you,” she says, which TOTALLY isn’t creepy at all.

“Err…I see.” I try not to show how freaked out I am by plastering a smile on my face, but my lips and whole face are twitching-something that doesn’t go unnoticed by Noah. He laughs in his seat.

“You’ve been here before,” Noah grins when I stare at him and picks up his coffee cup to drink from it before he drops another bomb on me, “And yes, training with me will make you stronger, but I don’t think that’s the magical answer to all of your problems.”

I raise an eyebrow at him. “You don’t?”

“No,” he chuckles. “I mean…I get that you want to prove to Duncan and the Winter pack that you’re a strong lycan, but in every single timeline, that doesn’t really make you happy. In the end, you will just be devastated by how much time you wasted to achieve that goal, so how about we try something different this time, hmm?”

I pick up the coffee cup he has prepared for me, smelling its contents before I mutter, “If you want to try something different, then you could always go back in time and make it so I was never in a coma…”

Noah sucks in a deep breath, and when I glance up at him, he is wearing a pained expression. “I tried that already, but that event is unfortunately supposed to happen.”

“Supposed to happen?” I slump back in my chair, cradling the warm mug in my hands as despair washes over

“It’s just easier if it does…” he doesn’t explain further and instead gets up from his chair. “Anyway, if you want to truly fix your problems, I have the answer.”

“And what is your answer?”

Noah’s grin from earlier returns and then he fishes up something from his pocket. “These are tickets to a luxury cruise. I think you and Duncan should go, just the two of you. No Crow, no pack responsibilities, no distractions. Just time to focus on repairing your relationship.”

I stare at the tickets in his hand, my mind reeling. “A couples cruise? Seriously? That’s your brilliant solution?”

Noah shrugs. “Sometimes, the simplest answer is the right one. You two need to get away from all the baggage and history here. A change of scenery and some alone time could do wonders.”

I set my mug down with a thunk. “And what makes you think Duncan would even agree to this? In case you haven’t noticed, we are not exactly on the best of terms.”

“Duncan wants to fix things between you guys. He wouldn’t say no to this.”

“Are you sure about that? Because last time I checked, he is also a workaholic. I don’t think he is going to leave

“Leave Duncan to me,” Noah says confidently. “I will make him agree to the cruise.”

I stare at Noah skeptically, still not fully convinced. “And you really think a cruise is going to magically fix everything between Duncan and me?”

Noah leans back in his chair, studying me. “No, of course not. The cruise itself isn’t a magic solution. But it’s an opportunity for you guys to find the time to…talk. And you want that, don’t you? To fix things?”

I look away, my throat tightening with emotion. The idea is tempting, I have to admit. To get away from the constant reminders of everything I’ve lost, to have Duncan’s undivided attention… But I’m also terrified. Terrified of letting my walls down, of being vulnerable with him again.

“I don’t know, Noah,” I say quietly. “So much has changed. We have both changed. What if-”

“What if you could just turn off your brain for a second and listen to your heart?” Amy interrupts. She is back with my son and smiles down at me. “Isn’t he worth it?”

I glance over at Crow, nestled contentedly in Amy’s arms. He is so beautiful-the best thing to come out of my complicated relationship with Duncan. And Amy is right-he deserves to have two parents who love each other.

My shoulders slump in defeat. “Fine, I will go on the stupid cruise…”

Noah chuckles. “Excellent. Now all you need is a babysitter, and you’re in luck because Amy and I would be more than happy to watch Crow while you’re gone.”

I blink in surprise. “Really? You’d be willing to do that even though you have a child of your own?”

“Of course!” Amy says brightly. “We’d love to watch Crow. He and our little Xander can have some bonding time. You just focus on getting back with Duncan.”

Even though I’m not convinced the cruise will be able to save my relationship with Duncan, I smile. “Thank you guys. I really appreciate this. If there’s anything I can do in return, just name it.”

Noah waves a hand dismissively. “Nah, don’t mention it. This is what family is for. Duncan is like a brother to me and he was happier with you than I’ve ever seen him. I just want you both to find that happiness again.”

His words warm my heart, and when I look at Amy and see her warm expression, I almost start crying. Amy and Noah are good people for doing all of this for me and Duncan.

After finishing my coffee and eating a bunch of cinnamon rolls, I leave Noah’s house. It feels criminal coming home without Crow, and once Duncan sees me entering the kitchen without our kid, he looks extremely

confused.

“Where’s Crow?” Duncan asks, alarm flashing in his eyes as he sets down the papers he was reviewing for the pack at the kitchen table.

I take a deep breath, steeling myself for his reaction. “He’s with Noah and Amy. They…they offered to watch him for a few days.”

Duncan’s brow furrows. “Why would they do that? Is everything okay?”

“Everything is fine,” I say in haste. “More than fine, actually. Noah, he… he gave me these.”

I pull the cruise tickets out of my pocket and slide them across the table to Duncan. His eyes widen as he picks them up, scanning the details.

“A couples cruise?” he asks, sounding really confused. “Why would Noah give us these?”

I shift awkwardly on my feet. “He thinks we need some time away together. To…to work on our relationship.”

Duncan blinks up at me for what feels like an eternity before he slowly replies. “And you…want that?”

I hesitate. It would be so easy to say no and hurt him-hurt him like he has hurt me. But I think it’s about time the two of us tried to make up.

“Yeah,” it takes a lot of willpower to say that. “I think this cruise could be what we need.”

Duncan stares at me, shock and cautious hope warring on his handsome face before it melts into a smile. “If this cruise is what you want, I won’t argue with you.”

Okay, now I’m shocked.

“Really?” I ask. “You’re going? Just like that? I don’t even have to convince you to leave the pack”.

“No,” an amused smile curves his lips. “I think being away from the pack could do me some good… wouldn’t you agree?”

Duncan’s unexpected willingness to leave catches me off guard. I expected more resistance and more excuses about his Alpha duties and responsibilities. But the way he is looking at me now-with his sexy blue eyes and killer smile-makes my heart skip a beat.

“Y-yeah,” I say, a bit nervous, for only the moon goddess knows what. “I think some time away, just the two of us, is exactly what we need.”

Duncan grins. “Then it’s settled. We’re going on a cruise.”
