She knew it wasn’t Megan. Katherine tried to push the person away, but the arm around her waist was strong.

Lucas lifted her chin. His voice was low and cold. “Who? I’m the idiot whose brain is in his ass. The one not worth making you sad.”

Katherine froze. Then she saw his face clearly. She frowned. “Lucas?”

She tried to push him away again, but he didn’t budge.

Megan’s jaw dropped. She couldn’t believe they run into him, and that he’d heard everything they said.

Worried Lucas might strangle Katherine out of anger, Megan rushed forward like a true best friend, ready to save her.

But she didn’t even get close. A body like a wall locked her. She looked up and saw a man who looked a lot like Lucas.

“Get out of the way!”

In just those few seconds, Lucas had already taken Katherine away.

Lucian bent down slightly and looked at Megan with a cocky grin. “Their problem. Let them handle it, okay?”

“Shut up!” Megan shoved him aside and ran after Katherine.

Lucian blinked, watching her go. “Wow. She’s got a temper.”

“Let me go,” Katherine said as Lucas pulled her outside. “You’re hurting me.”

Lucas let go and raised an eyebrow. “The idiot with a brain in his ass?”

He didn’t expect someone who always looked calm and gentle to talk like that.

Katherine looked him in the eye. “Did you even check? Or did you just decide it was me?”

“Who else would do something like this? Katherine, if you did it, just own up to it.”

She let out a cold laugh. “Own up to it? That’s a good line. You should tell Rachel that. Tell her to own up to what she did. Tell her to admit she hurt Ivy.”

“We already looked into that. It had nothing to do with her. Why can’t you let it go?”

Katherine stepped closer. looking up at his frustrated face. “Then answer me. If one day you find out I was telling the truth, what will you do

“When that day comes, will you personally put Rachel back in jail?”

Lucas stared into her eyes. They were clear and honest, like she wanted him to believe her. After a moment, he said, “If that day ever comes. I’ll personally send her to court. I’ll personally send her to prison.”

A car pulled up next to her.

Megan had called a driver and waved for Katherine to get in.

As Katherine walked toward the car, Lucian strolled over with one hand in his pocket. “Katherine, wait.”

“My dad sent two people back today. His assistant and his best lawyer. They’re going to go. over everything that’s happened these past few days and sue you.”

Katherine nodded. “Got it. Thanks.”

Then she got in the car.

“Aren’t you going after her?” Lucian asked his brother.

Lucas’s eyes darkened. “For what?”

If he chased her now, they would only just fight again.

Lucas walked toward his car. Lucian followed him. “So if Gavin really sues your wife, whose side are you on?”

“I’m on the side of the truth.”

Gavin’s assistant, Wrenlee Dawson, and his lawyer, Simon Carter, had just finished talking with Rachel.

Simon looked serious. “Mr. Hart, I have one last question. Is everything Ms. Hart said true? If you aren’t honest with me, it’ll be very hard for me to win this case.”

“It’s all true,” Quincy said firmly. “Katherine keeps bullying Rachel. She brought people to our house to smash things. She held a knife to Rachel. She pushed her off a Ferris wheel. And today she tortured her again. All of that is real. The injuries on Rachel’s body are proof.”
