Megan stood beside her, helpless, not knowing what to say to make any of it better. None of them had ever imagined things would turn out ke this.

Lucas had no clue Ivy was safe yet. He arrived a Katherine’s room and found it empty.

Lucas’ brow tensed. He stormed out and grabbed a nurse. “Where did the patient go?”

The nurse glanced inside, confused. “She’s awake? An hour ago she was still out when I checked.”

Katherine had just had surgery. Where could she possibly go?

He couldn’t even begin to imagine how a child ended up there.
