Lucas felt a vague sense of loss.

Maybe I’m being too sensitive, seeing every child and thinking they might be mine.

He shook it off, stepped into the elevator, and pressed for the third floor.

Julian and Ethan didn’t know where Katherine and Ivy were and were starting to panic.

The elevator doors opened, and Lucas stepped out.

The two anxious little boys rushed toward the elevator and slammed straight into him.

Lucas looked down. The boys looked up.

“Sorry, sir.”

Their parents hurried over, embarrassed that their kids had bumped into someone, and apologized.

Lucas lowered his gaze, his voice indifferent. “It’s fine.”

At that moment, Julian and Ethan finally found Katherine and Ivy.

“Mommy, Ivy!”

“Julian, Ethan?”

Oh, God.

They came to Crestburg, found the Grant Estate, and how even tracked me to the hospital, like they had a GPS on me.

Katherine quickly ushered the three kids into the stairwell.

“Julian, Ethan, you’re amazing, you found Mommy and me!” Ivy clapped happily for her brothers.

Katherine forced a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “Darlings, didn’t I tell you to find a place and wait for me?”

Ethan lifted his chin. “Weren’t you telling us to follow you?”

Katherine smacked her forehead.

She clearly meant for them to leave.

Forget it. They’re already here.

She crouched down and looked at them seriously. “Alright, we’ll put everything else aside for now. From this point on, you have to listen to me. If you don’t, I’ll really get mad.”

“Mm-hmm.”

Katherine paused, then said, “I’m giving you an address. It’s where I used to live. You go ther and wait for me. After I get Megan to pick up Ivy we’ll meet up again.”

“Okay.”

Ethan glanced at the medical report in Katherine’s hand. “Did you get hurt? Did bad Daddy bully you?”

“It was just a scald. Nothing serious.”

The two boys were heartbroken.

Back in Yarbrough, Mommy and Ivy never got hurt. Less than half a day after coming to Lucas’s place, both ended up injured and at the Hospital. It was obviously bad Daddy’s fault!

“It was the bad woman. She tried to burn me. Mommy got hurt saving me,” Ivy said angrily.

“There’s a bad woman too?”

Bad Daddy, bad woman, just you wait.

“Go on, you two. Be careful. Message me when you get there.”

“Okay, Mommy. Don’t worry.”

Julian led Ethan away.

Ethan muttered, “Bad Daddy and the bad woman hurt Mommy and Ivy. We can’t let them

off.”

This time, Julian agreed. “Mm. Let’s go home first.”

When Lucas came back, Katherine and Ivy were waiting in the hallway.

Lucas handed the candy to Ivy. “Don’t eat too much.”

“You tell her not to eat too much, and you buy her a whole bunch?”

Katherine watched Ivy’s eyes light up.

Lucas bought one huge bag of candy, a true rich guy move. Just like that lunatic last time, who bought Ivy an entire mall’s worth of candy and gave her a toothache.

Katherine was traumatized.

Ivy hugged the big bag of candy, sneaked a glance at Katherine, and happily unwrapped one before popping it into her mouth.

She knew Katherine couldn’t stop her right now so she had to eat a few more.

After picking up the medicine, Lucas took them back.

On the way, Katherine deliberately brought up when Ivy’s family would come to get her.

Ivy immediately followed along. “Don’t worry. Mommy messaged me. I told her I’m with Mr. Grant. She said she’ll come get Ivy, but I might have to stay here for one night.”

Katherine had booked Megan a flight for the next morning.

That meant Ivy had to stay at the Grant Estate for one night.

Lucas lifted his eyes, watching them through the rearview mirror.

If you didn’t look closely, you wouldn’t notice, but Ivy’s brows and eyes did resemble Katherine’s a little.
