“Yes. The investigation your father and Marcus started bore fruit quickly.” He turned from the window. “Jeremy, you’re not going to like this.”

“I already don’t like it. Someone betrayed my newborn daughter to hunters. There’s no version of this I was going to like.” I moved to the desk, reaching for the folder. “Who is it?”

“Before you look, I need you to promise something.” His voice was serious. “Promise me you won’t act immediately. That you’ll think carefully about how to handle this.”

“Why? What difference does it make who-“I opened the folder and stopped breathing.
